Hello everyone!!
I hope that you are all having a fantastic summer! I’m happy to say that we
have chosen our new script for *Major Event 2017*!! But first, let us thank
all of our incredible friends who took part in our scriptwriting hunt! It
was truly a tough decision to make as we have received so many great
stories and we really appreciate your enthusiasm and effort for the cause.
Next, I would like to introduce a very special group of people, who will be
working very closely with us for the many months to come! They have played
a big role in deciding which script to feature and also provided many ideas
to making the song and dance scene diverse and vibrant! Let me formally
introduce our creative team! We have our chorale directors, *Teun Yee* and *Hao
Yang*, our dance directors, *Magdalene* and *Sabrina,* our music director,
*Maurice*!
Now, we present to you the script for Major Event 2017!! Written by* Eugene
Kwa*, it talks of a bittersweet love story between two individuals. But,
who better to provide a better synopsis than the scriptwriter himself…
*“Presenting...*
*GETAI*
*Inspired by the musical Moulin Rouge, it tells the story of a songwriter
and a songstress. A chance encounter between our two leads at a fateful
Getai performance develops into something more. However, circumstances of
fate impede our two lovers and threaten to tear them apart. Will they find
their happy ending?”*
Gasp! Well, I guess we’ll have to join our Major Event Team and find out!

I would also like to thank all seniors who came down to interact with the
freshers and answered their questions. I daresay that they benefited the
greatest from the course mingling held after the talk! We also hope you

1. Singsoc Farewell Party
Hello everyone!
A very big thank you to all who joined us at *SFP* on *20 May 2016*, I hope
all of you had a great night with the company of our friends (:
To our friends on exchange and the graduating seniors, SFP was probably
your last ICSS event that you attended with the people around you before
you officially graduate from Imperial. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves
last week, reminiscing the memories from 3-4 years back when you first
stepped foot into Imperial, looking back at all the fun you had with your
friends all the way back since your Sojourn days. And I hope SFP has
reminded you of how far you have come, but most importantly the people who
have walked this journey with you.
I didn’t really get the chance to say what I wanted to say to the seniors
that night, but I am really grateful for everything that you have done for
us and for ICSS. You guys have been more than just seniors to us, but also
our friends, having fun with us, going through the same if not similar
experiences. Even though some of you might be a few years older than me, I
never really felt that age gap because you guys were always so friendly and
approachable. But more than being just a friend, you guys have always been
our pillar of support, providing us juniors with support and advice when we
needed help, especially when we were freshers, helping us to settle down
smoothly.
>From the bottom of my heart, I am thankful to have met you guys and to have
had the chance to spend time with you in my first year. Life at Imperial in
the next academic year will definitely be different without you guys. So as
many of you are about to walk your separate ways, I hope that SFP was more
than an event to mark the end of your journey at Imperial, but more so, a
chance for all of us to celebrate the memories that we have had and the
friendships that we have forged on this journey.
Seniors, we will definitely miss you, and I hope ICSS has been and will
always be a home away from home for you (:
Your grateful and sentimental President,
Si Ci
2. Food for Thought
Hello!
Thank you to all those who came down for our recently concluded event - *Food

We hope you enjoyed the food (& sincerely apologise if you didn't - or if
there wasn't enough!) and see you at our next event!
Your not-so-masterchef-after-all Events Officers,
Yuan Rong and Yan Tong
3. Retrospect 2016

5. Major Event 2017
Hello everyone!!
I hope that Major Event 2016: My Singapore Girl has been an incredible
experience for all of you and has inspired many of you to contribute next
year! So let us write a new chapter together and let it be an incredible
one!!
First things first - It’s official!!! *Major Event 2017* will be held on *18
February 2017* at the *Great Hall*!!!
To kick off this journey, we are calling for scripts to feature next year.
So let your creative juices flow! If you have a story you’re dying to tell
or are just itching to write something down, share it with us and you might
end up having yours featured! There is no theme requirement, but do keep in
mind that we hope to showcase our Singapore culture to the Imperial
community! So throw in what you admire about Singapore: our icons, our
stereotypes or even our linguistics fine! Also, in the spirit of
integration, I hope that you would allow potential entries for songs,
dances and music!
The deadline for the preliminary draft is *8 May 2016*. Too rushed? Don’t
worry!! We minimally require a plot synopsis of your script at this point,
but a finished script is always welcome! My team and I would work together
with you to strengthen your script and the final deadline for the finished
script will be on *12 June 2016*.
Do submit all scripts anytime now till the deadlines to this email:
majorevent(a)ic-singsoc.net. If you have any questions as well, feel free to
email me at this address!
Happy writing :)
Your ecstatic Major Event Officer,
Jasper
6. Retrospect
HI EVERYONE!
We are taking orders for RETROSPECT 2016!

as well as the stories of our fellow Singaporeans in Imperial College.

pictures and write-ups bound to have you flipping the pages over and over
to relive the past! This book is a must-get, especially if you will be
graduating soon, as the next edtion will be in 2019...
Furthermore, we have managed to secure a significant amount of sponsorship
for this project (YAY!!), we have managed to reduce the price of the book to*

purchase the book HERE
<http://union.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d91a1cb130f12317830464586&id…>

8. Karanguni 2016
Seniors!
Are you tired of throwing away perfectly usable items that were
painstakingly saved up for at the expense of Oriental Canteen/Eastern Star
meals? Fret not! *Karanguni 2016* is a revamped initiative that will serve
as a platform to connect sellers with potential buyers of used items within
the ICSS community.
*How to sell? - it's easy as 1, 2, 3*
*1. *A closed facebook group will be set up HERE
<http://union.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d91a1cb130f12317830464586&id…>
(and linked to the ICSS facebook page) which interested sellers and buyers
can request to join.
*2.* Once in, members will find photo albums of the following categories:
- Stationary
- Books
- Kitchen ware
- Electrical appliances (rice cookers go here)
- Electronics
- Furniture
- Others
If a seller wishes to put items up for sale, he/she need only post a photo
in the correct album and use the following template in the captions:
"
List of items:
1.[item] – [price] – [condition 0-10/10] – [position in photo]*
2.[item] – [price] – [condition 0-10/10] – [position in photo]
3.[item] – [price] – [condition 0-10/10] – [position in photo]
Detailed description:
1.detail
2.detail
3.detail
Contacts:
Name – (will be facebook tagged when posted)
Phone number (optional) –
Email – OR "contact via Facebook message"
"
*3. *If you wish to revise your pricing or have sold an item, simply
comment in your photo to update potential buyers!
*How to buy?*
Simply scroll through the photo album you're interested in and Facebook
message the seller to link up for negotiations! Otherwise, contact the
seller via the phone number or email address left in the photo caption.
*Note*:
- *It is recommended that sellers put multiple items into each photo so
as not to clog up the photo albums. We seek your understanding and
co-operation if the group's moderator requests for your photos to be
condensed.
- ICSS will not be liable for any damages or fraudulent transactions
that might occur as a result of using the Karanguni Facebook group. The
ExCo will employ due diligence in ensuring all members within the closed
group are legitimate ICSS members and items posted are legitimate but shall
be absolved from responsibility over the transactions between members.
We hope that this initiative will help to pull ICSS closer together and
allow seniors to pass on their used items to juniors who might not want to
pay full retail price for certain necessities. No more byebye items, only
buybuy items(:
Also, if you wish to donate any of your old items such as cutlery and
stationery to the incoming 2016 freshers, do drop us an email at
admin(a)ic-singsoc.net for more information!
