1. President's Message
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,
With the blink of an eye the academic year has come and passed,
and we are heading into one of the most exciting period of the
year for ICSS. On behalf of the ICSS committee, I would like to
firstly thank all members for their support through participating
in online polls, naming contest, meet-up sessions and Senior’s
Farewell Party in spite of everybody’s busy study schedule.
With our 3 major summer events just around the corner, it is
definitely something to get hyped up about. For Pre-departure
briefing, the main focus will be aimed at meeting our new
freshers. A number of you have already been contacted to come
down as Subject Representatives.
For Sojourn, we have already more than 40 seniors participating
in the organisation and planning process. Make sure you be part
of this Fresher’s Orientation Camp as it is a great opportunity
to meet up with freshers, batchmates and seniors.
The one event that EVERYONE must attend is UKBound. This year,
we’re looking to build on the pageant organised last year and
we are hoping to draw and even bigger crowd than before. With the
tentative venue confirmed at Zouk, we are hoping for all Imperial
students to be present in full force to support this event of
ours. Do remember to invite your fellow Singaporeans from other
UK universities and help make this event a bang.
For more details on our events always refer to our ICSS website
for the latest and most updated news.
Happy holidays!
Wenjun

Summer 2010 - Sojourn and Pre-departure Talk
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As summer term comes to an end, we thought you might want to know
some plans that ICSS has in store during Summer 2010 in
Singapore!
**1) Sojourn 2010**
Sojourn 2010 will be held from **27-29 August 2010** (Fri-Sun)
at **Sentosa!** Look forward to having some fun under the sun
while meeting new juniors at the relaxing coast of Sentosa!
The list of OGLs and gamemasters will be released next week as
well, so watch this space!
**2) Pre-departure talk**
Imperial Singapore Society will be holding a pre-departure talk
for incoming freshers on **16th July 2010** (Friday) at **Raffles
City Tower, 21st Floor Reception Area**. Registration begins at
6pm. We would appreciate it if you could tell any lost juniors
who might be wondering when this all-important preparatory talk
will be held, and of course, come along and join in the session
to share your advice with the juniors!
We also have a Facebook group for Freshers 2010/2011
<http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=112374862117636&ref=ts>,
so if you are aware of juniors heading to Imperial in the coming
Autumn, do direct them there so we can keep them informed of
any updates!

1. A BIG THANK YOU from us :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,
The 28th Exco would like to extend a big thank you to all those
who attended Senior’s Farewell Party last Friday! I sure hope
all of you enjoyed yourselves as much as the Exco enjoyed
planning the event. With the passing of Senior’s Farewell
Party, we have officially drawn a closure to the last event
organized for the academic year of 2009/2010. Photos and
event-related multimedia may be found on our website
<http://www.ic-singsoc.net/?p=147>.
This term, we are also proud to announce the successful launch
of our ICSS Marketplace located at our forum
<http://www.ic-singsoc.net/forum>. This new initiative allows for
Singaporeans to post advertisements pertaining to just about
anything under the sun. With a special section on the Weekly Kaya
and Toast dedicated to releasing snippets on the latest bargains
and sales, Singaporeans now have a better avenue to reach out to
the rest of our community. We do hope that the traffic for our
Marketplace will increase and we will be looking to improve on
it, so do make your suggestions and opinions heard as well!
Meanwhile, good luck for examinations!
Wenjun

2. Love Actually Is... Nostalgia!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Take a breather from all that studying (or the playing, for those
who are already done with your exams) and reminisce the days of
Major Event 2009! The commemoration video for Love Actually Is..
is now available here <http://www.ic-singsoc.net/?p=150>. Enjoy
:)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
3. Reminder: Last week to win 100 pounds!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
We've been posting this as a reminder for a couple of weeks, but
just in case you haven't done the Jobscentral survey, please do
complete it at this link:
http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/276523/imperial-college-survey. It
wouldn't take you more than a few minutes to complete the survey
and stand a chance to win a 100 quid prize award from
Jobscentral. This survey closes on ***31st of May 2010***.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
4. What's wrong with our layout this week?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As a result of technical difficulties, our usual spunky
newsletter format could not be loaded as usual (explains the
delay in sending this out this week too! ). In the meantime, we
will be making do with this simple and crisp layout. Hope you
don't mind . :)
