One year postdoctoral position at University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris, France High-speed nanoscopy to decipher the real-time mitochondrial dynamics A postdoctoral research position is available at the Physics department of the University Pierre and Marie Curie, within the Dyna@mit team of the lab Jean Perrin and the LPEM. The Dyn@mit project will investigate the inner mitochondrial dynamics of living cells under oxidative stress. This post-doc position is funded for one year. PhD degree is required, expertise in optical imaging, image analysis, statistics and data treatments are desirable. Dear all, Please always use the SharePoint booking system to book your microscopy sessions. The new PPMS system is online for the flow facility and it contains a FILM tab, but this is not operational yet. You might find the microscope in use by someone who booked via SharePoint! We will let you know when we switch over to PPMS. [FILM-Users 00712] !!! Huygens deconvolution and analysis software - CHANGE of access !!!

Dear FILM user, >From March 15th onwards, the way in which you can access the FILM Huygens software package for deconvolution and data analysis will be different. Huygens will then run on a dedicated Windows server, which is more powerful than the current system. This should increase the speed for deconvolution by a factor of three. Huygens will still be charged at £6/hour to recover the annual maintenance costs. Please let me know if you are planning to use Huygens in the future, so that we can e-mail you instructions how to use the new system. Next Generation Optical Microscopy Initiative: Imaging cellular structure and function beyond the diffraction limit Super-resolved microscopy has revolutionised optical imaging by breaking the "diffraction limit" of optical resolution and achieving a resolution down to 10's of nm. Life Sciences researchers with interest in fields such as epigenetics, gene regulation and metabolism can now visualise biological structures and functions on the molecular scale in live cells and organisms. Teams at MRC LMS and Imperial College London have recently partnered to develop instruments, capabilities and imaging techniques such as SIM, STED, 3-D PALM STORM and FLIM-FRET to visualise and study biological structures and processes. In the innovation mixer on Wednesday, 1st March at 2.30pm we will highlight our advances in the field and present some in-house developments of these novel techniques.
