Dear All, The FILM team are delighted to introduce the new online FILM Gallery<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/facility-for-imaging-by-light-microscop…>, set up to celebrate and showcase the beautiful images captured on FILM microscopes. Please take a look at some of the first gallery images expertly captured by Dr David Gaboriau from the FILM team. Do you have a great high-resolution microscopy image taken on a FILM microscope that you would like to include in the gallery? If so, we would love to see your image and keep our gallery collection growing. Please email over a JPEG or TIF copy of your image to Razieh (r.khoshnevisan(a)imperial.ac.uk) along with a description of the sample shown and the name(s) of who needs to be credited for the sample and image. Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to invite you to take part in the NIKON Imaging System Demo Week, which will run from Monday 24th to Friday 28th November (ICTEM Building; Room 304A). The system on demonstration is the NIKON ECLIPSE Ji Open Architecture Digital Inverted Microscope<https://www.microscope.healthcare.nikon.com/en_EU/products/digital-microsco…>. It is equipped with the CREST X-Light V3 Spinning Disk Confocal System<https://www.microscope.healthcare.nikon.com/en_EU/products/confocal-microsc…>. The platform supports two main modes of use: 1. Automatic Assay Imaging<https://downloads.microscope.healthcare.nikon.com/phase7/literature/Brochur…> – minimal user interaction; AI-driven setup and analysis for high-throughput cellular imaging assays. 2. Advanced Research Mode<https://downloads.microscope.healthcare.nikon.com/phase7/literature/Brochur…> – full access to JOBS visual programming<https://www.microscope.healthcare.nikon.com/en_EU/products/software/nis-ele…> for customised image acquisition and analysis workflows. Our motivation for evaluating this system is to identify an instrument that can: * Support Master’s research projects efficiently and productively. * Provide high-sensitivity imaging with over 95% quantum yield for detecting biological processes under physiological conditions. * Integrate smoothly with modern AI and image analysis tools<https://www.microscope.healthcare.nikon.com/en_EU/products/software/nis-ele…>. * Deliver high-speed imaging<https://crestoptics.com/x-light-v3-2/> of tissue and organoid samples. The FILM staff team is fully prepared to support the demo, with both David and myself experienced in maintaining and developing NIKON microscope platforms. Dear users, There are plans for several days of strike on the London Tube network from Sunday 7th to Thursday 11th, with disruption lasting until Friday 12th September. https://tfl.gov.uk/campaign/strikes If the strike is not cancelled (talks are ongoing), FILM staff will be working from home for the strike days, and will be able to assist you remotely. [FILM-Users 01206] Clearing space on Scratch2 drive - back up your data!

Dear All, Next week I will be clearing space on Scratch2 - FILM's file server. Any older files saved on the drive before 1 April 2025 will be deleted. If you have not yet copied your data from Scratch2 please do this as soon as possible to avoid losing your data. Please remember that the Scratch2 drive should only be used to copy data from the microscopes to other computers on the Imperial network, it is not a long-term storage solution. Please make sure you have at least two backups of your data saved in other locations.
