Dear all, We hope you're having a good Easter break. Brief updates from IC Radio: * Congratulations to Raul Adriaensen, our newly elected Head of Programming, and Anisha Srirangan, next year's Treasurer! * Production Workshop: Thursday 1st May from 18:00-21:00 in the West Basement. We'll be explaining how to set up the West Basement for recording, and how to use Avid desk/ProTools. Afterwards, we'll be looking at the effect of mic positioning / using different microphones on a drum kit with a guest drummer playing for us, with the option of learning mastering on a recorded multitrack using a desk with built-in RTA. Please email production(a)icradio.com if you plan on coming!! * IC Radio EGM: 25th May in the Shared Studio. Dear all, Apologies for the mass of emails regarding elections this year. This will be the last for a while. We still require a Head of Training for next year's committee, and we will be holding another set of elections in May to vote them in. Please let us know ASAP if you are considering running for the role. Manifestos Head of Programming - Anisha Srirangan I am a good candidate for Head of Programming as I am an organised person that will ensure the smooth running of the shows without any clashes and at ideal times for each programme. Through being a charity ambassador, I can balance time well. In this leadership role, I had to book rooms and host events to promote the annual fundraising sky dive. I have the skills and dedication required for this role and would be proud to serve IC Radio as Head of Programming. Treasurer - Raul Adriaensen I am a first-year student with an ample background and passion in music and financing. I have had various opportunities to participate with ICRadio with the show “the Schtick” and have enjoyed every minute. As such I would like to be able to contribute towards the society and bring what I believe could be of valuable support to ICRadio and help to make the society grow by: * keeping the accounting sheets clear and precise * guaranteeing all money is spent efficiently * the influx of new ideas to help raise the popularity of ICRadio during events such as freshers fair and systems to keep the audiences engaged and motivated to listen in * and hopefully, start my own show! New Committee - Key Positions Still Vacant

Dear ICRadio Members, Following our AGM, I'd like to welcome everyone who stood for a position into the committee - I look forward to seeing where you take the Radio next year! We didn't however manage to fill several key positions, including Head of Programming, Head of Training and Treasurer. While these may not sound particularly exciting, they are critical positions if ICRadio wants to keep working as a society. Most of you will know our current Head of Programming, Thomas, as the person who you emailed for a show slot, and without him this society would be a lot more dysfunctional (assuming it would even functional at all). Michael, the current Head of Training, is probably one of the few people who has seen all our new members and taught them how to put on a show. Without him, we wouldn't have nearly as many members given how difficult it is to use all the equipment / Member's Area if you're completely new to it. Finally, our Treasurer is vital since they are the person who makes sure we pay our licenses on time and are even able to broadcast! We also have the roles of Deputy Head of Music and Assistant Station Manager available, both of which would be useful to have. ICRadio has been around since 1975, and I will be damned if I'm the Station Manager who sees this society go down the drain because we couldn't fill these positions. Many of you are able to do your shows and use our equipment without any (or much) hassle thanks to the committee, so please take the time to consider giving back to this Society. If you would like to stand for one of these positions, please reply to this email ASAP. If you are still unsure about whether or not you should run, there are still plenty of positions which are currently uncontested which we need to fill at the AGM. Introducing the candidates standing for positions... Head of Promotions Alvin Lee IC radio has a great variety of shows, from world tunes like ‘Quantum Musicology’ to talk shows like ‘What Does Em See?’. Unfortunately, IC Radio is relatively unknown on campus at the moment. If I am elected as Head of Promotions, this will change. As host of ‘The Schtick’, when I personally promote my show, many do not realise that IC Radio exists. I have a plan to promote the radio across the university and introduce these great shows to the rest of Imperial and beyond. >From the help of sponsors, cross-promotions, charity broadcasts, and competitions, I aim to dramatically increase our audience and ensure that everyone knows about the best student radio station. Station Manager Thanos Vlontzos I am Thanos , I've been a member of this committee for the past 3 years as head of music. During this time I have helped around the radio doing technical maintenance, organising meet the candidates ( last year and this year even though the union made it impossible for us to broadcast), recently revamped the sustain playlist with new music. By being manager I aim to continue the reforms that Seb started and bring a new era to the radio. We'll try to approach even more freshers and become a more sociable society. I also aim to create shows that hold the union accountable and help the head of training to raise the broadcasting quality of the station. In all seriousness I will try to organise bar nights, guest speakers and most importantly pub nights. We all get that occasional feeling of loneliness when in the broadcasting basement (or annoyance if you’re stuck with a regrettable co-host), so why not feel those same emotions in the company of similarly despondent icradio members, upstairs and slightly inebriated. Also, if you don’t vote for me can you at least click on my past broadcasts to boost the statistics and in turn my self-esteem. Cheers Mate! Dear all, IC Radio will be postponing its AGM on account of a clash with the upcoming Meet the Candidates. The AGM will be held instead on Tuesday 20th March from 18:30. Important Information//Merry Christmas from IC Radio

With Christmas well on its way, IC Radio is buying all sorts of new tech to improve your experience. While this is all very exciting, we must relay urgent information about the availability of the studio: We are (finally) renovating the computers in the studio on Friday 15/12. Unfortunately, that means you won't be able to come do your show on Friday. Furthermore, we will be tidying up the West Basement in the first week of next term, which may lead to some disruptions to the weekly schedule. We're really sorry for the short notice of this, but we promise it's for the greater good. Planned improvements to the studio include: * New Windows PC this Friday - this will no longer unexpectedly freeze! * New Rivendell computer - finally properly fixing Sustain, and updating the playlist! * Better echo-prevention - you'll be able to listen to broadcasts involving 3 or more people in our studio without your ears bleeding! * New IC Radio servers - this will have plenty more storage and will make the move to a new website much easier. What's that? New website you hear us say? It's long overdue, and we're planning to roll that out for next academic year.
