Hello Some people may not have received the first newsletter correctly, for this reason I have re-written the newsletter without the formatting. This email also gives me a chance to remind you about the cinema. So what's happening tomorrow? Remember the promotion, all films are £1 each for this week only with a flyer (see below for web link to print the flyer or just use the one we gave you at fresher's fair). The Films Mission Impossible III Plot - Ethan Hunt, retired from active duty and recently engaged to the lovely Julia, returns to action when an IMF agent he trained is captured. But when Hunt's attempts to snare evil arms dealer Owen Davian goes violently wrong, events spirals back toward the innocent Julia, who suffers under the illusion her fiancé works in transport. The Location We are located in the Union Concert Hall (UCH), this is on the 2nd floor of the union building in Beit Quad. For everyone that doesn't know how to get to the UCH, you need to head towards the Union Bar, this is on the east side. Then take the stairs up to the concert hall, you will pass the union reception and meeting room 7, if you get to meeting room 1, you need to come down one set. There will be signs pointing you in the correct direction.

Hello The Introduction As everyone knows the All-Nighter (the event of this term) is tomorrow. Have you got your ticket? If you have never been to an All-Nighter before you must come and experience to joy of all six. This is the last All-Nighter of this academic year, if you are leaving Imperial this year, tomorrow is your last chance to see what all the fuss is about. Please arrive early to the All-Nighter as the Producers will start promptly at 6:00 pm. Box Office will open at 5:30 pm so to get the best seat; arrive early. All advanced tickets will need to be checked, there will be signs saying where tickets can be checked. Ticket Prices Below are the prices at the box office. These tickets will be on sale from 5:30 pm tomorrow. 1 film = £3 2 films = £5 3 films = £7 4 films = £9 5 or more films = £11 The Films If you don't all ready know the six films, here they are: 18:00 - The Producers (12) 20:25 - Memoirs of a Geisha (12) 23:00 - Munich (15) 01:55 - Match Point (12) 04:10 - Underworld: Evolution (18) 06:10 - Jarhead (15) The Plots If you're not sure what the films are about, below are the plot lines. The Producers Failing Broadway producer Max Bialystock (Lane) forms a devious plan after a visit from his nervous accountant Leo Bloom (Broderick). Together they scheme to get rich by raising money for a guaranteed musical flop: Springtime For Hitler. Memoirs of a Geisha Sayuri (Zhang) remembers how she was sold into servitude and misery as a child, trained and molded by her mentor Mameha (Yeoh) into a celebrated geisha, and sustained against both her rival Hatsumomo's (Gong) treachery and the vicissitudes of war by her love for a man (Watanabe) she could not have. Munich After eleven Israeli athletes are murdered by a Palestinian terror group at the 1972 Munich Olympics, a hit squad is instigated by Israel's secret service agency to track down those thought to have organized the atrocity. But alongside their achievements, the team will come to question the morality and effectiveness of their fateful mission. Match Point One-time tennis pro Chris (Rhys-Meyers) is working as a coach when he meets wealthy posh bird Chloe (Mortimer). After they marry he embarks on an affair with his brother-in-law's fiancée, Nola (Johansson), forming a love triangle that has violent consequences. Underworld: Evolution Vampiric vixen Selene and werewolf-vamp hybrid Michael, both on the run, set out to stop the progenitors of both races from wiping out mankind. Jarhead It's 1990. Twenty year-old US Marine Anthony Swofford (Gyllenhaal) is sent to the Saudi Arabian desert as Saddam has invaded Kuwait and Uncle Sam has promised to do something about it. 'Swoff' is part of the 'elite' STA (Surveillance and Target Acquisition) platoon: one-shot, one-kill sniping experts. He wants to see action. But all he can see is sand... The 'Hall of Fame' At this All-Nighter we are going to do something new, we are running a competition called the 'Hall of Fame'. The idea behind the 'Hall of Fame' is that the Hall that gets the biggest percentage of students in for the whole All-Nighter will win. To qualify for this the student will need to have purchased an advance ticket for all six films. During the event, the winning hall will be announced and a trophy will be presented. As well as a trophy we will give the winning hall a maximum cash prize of up to £100 to spend as they see fit. If this wasn't enough we are also offering the students from the winning hall, that bought the tickets, half price entry to all of iCU Cinema's showing in the 2006 summer term. This is a great competition that we are running; the deadline to get your hall involved has closed. But halls can still be nominated, to do this you must let the person at the box office know which hall you wish to choose when your ticket gets checked. Hello I hope that everyone is well. Just to remind you that you only have two days left to buy the advanced tickets from the Union Reception. The Union will stop selling them on Friday when they close for the weekend. If you have never been to an all-nighter before, I recommend that you come, it's a great event and the place has a real atmosphere, even at 4 am. If your hall hasn't entered the Hall of Fame, they still have a chance to enter, but you have got to be quick. Hello To go along with Valentine's Day, we have "Just Like Heaven" for you this week, a romantic comedy with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. Elizabeth, a workaholic female doctor "haunts" her old apartment as a spirit after suffering an accident she can't remember. The new occupant of that apartment, David, a lonely architect, is not too pleased with the cohabiting spirit, but romance blossoms as the two start to investigate Elizabeth's past life. This is not just a Valentine's Day chick flick; it should also be quite enjoyable for the guys. Our second film this week, "Everything is Illuminated" with Elijah Wood, is a bit of counter-programming. It is a darker, stranger tale of a young American Jew who travels to the Ukraine trying to investigate his grandfathers past and find the woman who saved him from the Nazis during World War II. He receives help on his quest from a bunch of local misfits. Something a little more serious than "Just like Heaven", but well worth watching. Hello If you have not heard of Harry Potter, you are probably deaf. We are showing the fourth and latest instalment of the series, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". It is by far the best Harry Potter movie and a lot more mature and darker than its prequels. It is time for the Triwizard Tournament and the return of Voldemort, with conspiracies, terrorism at the Quidditch World Cup, death, fame and the problems of growing up. Separate Lies is a British film, a kind of whodunnit with themes of secrecy, betrayal and forgiveness in the upper middle-class. Why do people make the fatal errors that they do? The British cast is very strong with several Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominees. If you have never even heard of this film, shame on you, but that is what we are here for.
