For the beginners as we mentioned last time we think you should all be considering gradind. The first grading will be in 2 weeks on the 4th of novemebr at the club and Rahul will be taking care of the examination. We'll be going through the ‘novice to 6th kyu(red/white belt)’ syllabus again over the next few session although we have seen most of it, so make sure you are here.
Follow the link to refresh your mind: http://www.britishjudo.org.uk/technical/documents/SeniorKyuGradeSyllabusPic…
The next grading will be for 6th kyu (red/white) to 5th kyu (yellow) etc...
So you guys should also get a British Judo membership in order to grade. It will allow you to grade every month and compete after you've reached orange belt (4th kyu). It’s a little black book for all your records and you'll also get a pink license slip sent separately. Hi everyone!!
Good turn up on Monday, I know some of you couldn’t make it to the session.
Although it took us a bit of time to take the extra mats up before the session, it was nice to have a big mat surface area!
We are currently negotiating with Sport Imperial for them to buy an extra 15 mats (for those who don’t know Ethos needs to keep at least 15 mats in the main hall for schools that use them). Give it a bit of time and it should be all set!
Regarding the uniform ‘gis’ come to see us after the session today, with your height (cm) and we’ll proceed an order. We should get our usual club discount from Fighting Films.
For those of you who want to take a look at them, check: http://www.fightingfilms.com/acatalog/JudogiandBelts.html
Scroll down and look at the Red Label Gi on at 38£ roughly depending on the size (for a 170cm), this is without the club discount (15% Off).
You can visit adidas, http://www.avasports.com/judo/training_club.htm They have also good gis maybe slightly more expensive.
Also we hbve some spare new gis that we didn't sell last year from Blitz at around 30£.
Regarding the membership,we are trying to work on a overall year membership flat rate like most clubs do, rather than a small year membership+ term fee, which make everything more simple and CHEAPER for us member.
Also coming up is grading in a month time. We’ll let you know of everything on the mat.See you tonight 7.30!

Hi Everyone,
A Big thank you to all of you that attended the session on wednesday, we didn't expect such a great turn up!
I hope you enjoyed what was for some of you, your first Judo session, and your body wasn't aching too much the next morning!
We are sorry again for not having enough space for everyone on that first session but next week we should get Sport Imperial to provide us with enough mats to cover the whole surface area!
Also, as I said on Wednesday, once we get a set number of members within the next few sessions we should be able to get everything more organised and structured so that everyone has a good time and improves as quickly as possible.
By the way for those improving quickly, Rahul (main instructor) should be able to get your theory done so that you can start grading soon(getting 'higher' colour belts).
Next session in Ethos, monday 8.30, FREE again, although you can now apply for this year's membership online at http://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/judo-144/judo-membership (15£ ONLY!)
If you have kept the Judo suit we've lent you, make sure you bring it back!
For more info you can visit our website, http://www.union.ic.ac.uk/acc/judo/
See you on Monday!

Hi Guys, Girls!
Thanks for stopping by at the fair and your interest at in Judo.
If you are a beginner, I can imagine you've been around looking at many other clubs and seen a lot of the exciting stuff Imperial has on offer. We know you are spoilt for choice so we offer you a free taster session. The first (and introductory session) will be tomorrow, Wednesday 7th at 7.30pm. Our dojo (venue) is at Ethos (2nd floor studio). When you come into Ethos just tell the receptionists that you are coming for Judo.
For the advanced players and those who are taking Judo up again after a few years out - the club offers great opportunities to go to competitions. Last year we went to Sheffield USIST, Ecole Polytechnique (Paris), IDEA league (Aachen) and most importantly BUCS (British University Championships).
Tomorrow should be good turnout of both beginners and advanced players so it will be a great session for everyone! If you do not own a judogi yet please remember to bring some loose tracksuit bottoms, a loose shirt (long-sleeved rugby/polo shirt).
See you on the mat,
Ed

Hi everyone,
As some of you might know the club was running into some financial trouble this year. This was inevitable as our current dojo at Wilson House is way too expensive! Next academic year the club has been promised that we are going to be able to use the union gym. This will have a number of advantages over the old location last but not least we will be able to go to the union after the session to have cheap beer. ;) Most importantly however we expect that our members will find it much easier to attend more sessions as Wilson House is quite far away from College. Edouard Desclaux, who has been elected as next year's chairman is also negotiating with SportImperial about the use of the Ethos facilities... We will update you as soon as we have more information.
Given the fact that the summer term is usually quite busy for most of us (exams), the attendance is not likely to improve enough to support training at Wilson House without sustaining major damage on part of our budget. Therefore, the committee has decided to cancel all sessions for next term. As we have usually only ever had one session in the summer term I hope this does not cause much of an inconvenience. For all those of you who want some training I warmly recommend you try the University of London Judo Club (ULUJC). All our advanced players (squad members) train there regularly and it is recommended for anyone who wants to take his or her Judo further. I hope to see all of you there! Their website is http://www.ulujudo.co.uk - please give it a try. Feel free to contact me should any questions arise. Normal sessions will resume next academic year!
Again, I am very sorry about the cancellation - Unless the college gives us Wilson House for free, there is nothing we can do.
See you on the mat!
Will
