Hey everyone! Hope you're enjoying your first term back at uni and back at IC Radio! We have a few bits and pieces of news to update you on... Success at the Student Radio Awards! Recent IC Radio alumnus Jen Whyntie won us Bronze for Best Speech Programming, and, most impressively, the Kevin Greening Award for Creativity at last week's SRA ceremony at the o2. That's out of all the entries for all the student radio stations across the UK!! We'll be publicising the bejaysus out of this when she gets feedback from the judges, so keep an eye out for the ICR Croc popping up over the next few weeks! In the meantime, it's never too early to think about entering next year's awards and keeping up our winning streak... See the attached how-to guide for tips! :) Speaking of success, we also hosted the National Student Chart Show last Sunday and it was very capably done by Happy Michael. Congrats Michael! If anyone else would like to give it a go, email me ASAP. Jingle all the way (I'm cringing as I type...) Today we recorded a promotional jingle for a TeachFirst event on Wednesday - it's up on the touchscreen in the studio, so anyone who has a show tomorrow or Wednesday please play out the TeachFirst jingle! It's 40 seconds long and, in my expert opinion, extremely professional thanks to our representative's smooth script. Also, our Assistant Manager Ronan will be in touch over the next few days about organising jingle sessions for anyone looking for a personal touch to their show! Free Advertising with ICU Cinema If anyone has been to ICU Cinema lately, they may have noticed a small IC Radio segment from yours truly and my co-host Craig before the films. Cinema have had a very positive reaction to it and eager for more! If you'd like to contribute any sets, of perhaps about 10-20 minutes in length, email me for the deets and advice about recording at manager(a)icradio.com! Free flights to Belfast! To be won on IC Radio - listen in all this week to answer 4 easy questions and win return flights to Belfast from Gatwick. First question on Best Foot Forward Tuesday at 8pm. Next on Matt Colvin's the Sound of Success on Wednesday at 6pm. Then on Friday at 8pm with Mad Craic. The final question will be on The Happy Hour Sunday at 5pm. No food or drink in the studio! Hate to be a nag, but we're still paying off the invoice from the Great Coke Spill of 2011, so please please please do not drink anywhere near ALICE! As for food, make sure you clean up after yourself - last thing we need is for the media corridor to be visited by some furry Stuart Littles... Mailing lists I realise a lot of people are getting various emails about training and jingles and promotions etc, so we might try and re-organise our various mailing lists to reduce the spam by next term! Felix feature

Hi all, Apologies for the continued spam but I just want to send out a reminder about getting me some show descriptions so we can advertise in Felix. I'm looking to get a nice big radio feature in the paper this coming week so will need your stuff by ideally Monday evening, this'll give me time to write it all up. It literally takes 2 minutes to think up some cool one liner for your show so get em sent over. A good example so far is for Matt Colvin's sounds of success: 'The worlds of game shows and radio chaotically collide as two contestants battle it out over 58 minutes to hear their song of choice. Listen in or be a contestant!' Again if you're interested in the AER LIngus competition get in touch as soon as possible. I'm going to start promoting for this next week, again hopefully in Felix and it'll probably start running on the 12th so very soon! Apologies if you're not a presenter and this doesn't interest you! ICR promotions

Hi guys Hopefully everyone who wants a show etc has one and they're all going well, now is the time to get promoting! We can do this in a number of ways: 1. POSTERS: Anyone can put up posters promoting their show or you can send them my way and i'll help. Just bear in mind two things. They MUST have the imperial union logo on them and MUST be stuck up with blue tack (no sellotape). I've already used up our only warning on this front (woops) so next time the station get's a fine. 2. THE SNAP: This is the 10 page 'zine i put together for the Fresher's Fair that hopefully encouraged lots of you to join! I want to get a second edition on the go containing the schedule and show descriptions. A show description can be as little or as much as you want: Who you are, when you're on, what tunes you play and all the hijinks in your show! It can be just a line or two or a fully fledged feature like this https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Bt2ls3ilWcRvmtRj69uVnLuadeUaO0uMpdINFQ1… . So send me any details, pictures etc you want included and it'll go in the 'zine. 3. Felix: I'm going to try get an article in felix, again promoting shows, so for this send me a one or two line description, something short and snappy that sums up your show real quick for the reader. 4. AER Lingus competition: So this is a bit of a random one but the station has been approached with a competition offer: Two free flights on AER Lingus' new route London to Belfast for us to give away as part of a promotional competition for the airline. The format we're thinking is 4 questions spread over different shows in a week all at a specific time e.g Q1 6pm Monday, Q2 6pm Wednesday etc. Now there has been some interest in this and the time is yet to be decided but if you're interested in hosting a question on your show then message me ASAP. We'll hope to promote this competition a lot around campus so it's a great way to boost the listener numbers of your show. There we have it! Hey radio-lovers! I hope everyone enjoyed Beer & Biscuits last night! I was the cripple girl with major swag wandering around shoving cookies and beers in everyone's faces. Here are a few bits and pieces that I forgot to mention in my impromptu and very rambly speech last night... Student Radio Awards Hell yes we've been nominated!! Last year's IC Radio enthusiast Jen Whyntie earned us a nomination in the category of Best Speech Programming - the fourth year running that we've been nominated and, fingers crossed, the second year in a row that we win! The night will be a black-tie event<http://www.studentradioawards.co.uk/awardsevening> in the O2 on Thursday 8th November, hosted by Nick Grimshaw of BBC Radio 1 and Dave Berry of Capital London. The awards are super prestigious and a whole lot of fun, and IC Radio are going to subsidise your tickets!! If you're interested, please email me ASAP so I can get an idea of numbers! The details are yet to be confirmed, but we'll be having a free all-inclusive jingles session for you show-hosts in the coming weeks.
