[FILM-Users 00120] Zeiss widefield demonstration
Dear microscopists, just a reminder that today is the Zeiss presentation about their widefield and confocal systems. And if you haven't booked your slot to test their widefield demo system next week, please do so soon. See you there, good imaging, Martin On 10/10/2011 10:34, Martin Spitaler wrote:
Dear microscopists,
as announced earlier, we continue the demonstration and testing of microscopes for the L-Block in Hammersmith next week with the Zeiss widefield system. The system will come with a full incubation chamber, various cameras, LED illumination for fast switching and motorised stage. As an optional extra, which is probably beyond our current financial limits, but might be an interesting add-on later, they will probably also bring a Vivatome system, which offers fast, near-confocal imaging similar to a spinning disc, but based on a different principle (see <http://zeiss-campus.magnet.fsu.edu/tutorials/opticalsectioning/vivatomeopticaltrain/index.html> for details.
The Zeiss system will be available in room SAFB-530 (Fleming Building, South Kensington Campus) from Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 October 2011 all day, please book your time slot for testing by replying to this email.
And as an introduction, this *Friday, 14 October 2011, 15.00 in the seminar room SAFB-120* Zeiss will give an overview of their widefield and confocal systems, including explanations of the confocal GaAsp detectors, meta scan head, Vivatome, LED illumination etc.
And the next demonstrations will be the Leica systems. The Leica confocal SP5 demonstration (with sensitive Hybrid detectors) will be in the week from 31 Oct 2011, the Leica widefield demonstration is not yet fixed.
Please come along for testing, good imaging,

Dear microscopy, first of all, thanks to those who have come along to test the Zeiss widefield system, it was actually very interesting. Please could everybody involved send me some feedback on their experience, to add to the summary? Again, everything is helpful, sensitivity, speed, functionality, usability, how helpful the Zeiss people were etc. And an update on the Leica demo installations (SAFB-530, South Kensington): The LEICA WIDEFIELD system is going to be available Tue 1 - Thu 3 November 2011. It will again come with incubation chamber, motorised stage, sensitive camera, LED illumination for fast switching. The LEICA CONFOCAL SP5 will be available for testing Tue 8 - Thu 10 November 2011. This system will have a resonant scanner for fast scanning, high-sensitivity hybrid detectors (HyD), plus the usual motorised stage, incubation chamber etc. Please book your testing slot by replying to this email soon - they usually fill up quickly. ...just a reminder; if you haven't booked your testing slot yes, please contact Steve Rothery or Mark Scott, I will be away tomorrow and Wednesday, Martin On 04/11/2011 18:18, Martin Spitaler wrote:

Dear all, thank you very much for the nice card and the kind words. I couldn't decipher some of the many signatures, so I use this list to say thanks. It's really good to have so many nice people around, who haven't forgotten that - despite all the work pressures - life is what life sciences are all about. All the best, Martin On 08/12/2011 15:45, Calcagno Pizarelli, Ana-Maria wrote:
