...forwarded for your information, the original attachment is at <https://workspace.imperial.ac.uk/imagingfacility/Public/_attachment-140116.pdf>. I've just been asked to forward this, don't know the lab nor the supervisor, but certainly applying for an imaging job later and having worked in a Nyqvist lab would be eye-catching! Aga -- Agnieszka Martowicz, PhD KAROLINSKA INSTITUTET Dept. of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics Division of Vascular Biology Scheelesv 2, House A3, level 4 17177 Stockholm, Sweden Phone: +46 (0)8 524 879 66 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Department of Medical Biochmistry and Biophysics Division of Vascular Biology Postdoc in angiogenesis focused on live cell and in vivo confocal imaging Department The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics conducts multidisciplinary research and education in biomedicine. Presently our department consists of 11 research divisions with a total of approximately 300 employees. The Division of Vascular Biology provides an international and interactive environment with seven research groups; Christer Betsholtz, Ulf Eriksson, Jonas Fuxe, Johan Björkegren, Lars Jakobsson, Guillem Genové and Daniel Nyqvist. Area of research / Research group The research group of D r. Daniel Nyqvist is investigating molecular mechanisms regulating vascular growth and barrier function in health and disease. We study angiogenesis during developmental processes and in pathophysiological conditions such as tumor growth and retinopathy. W e are a young, dynamic and very enthusiastic research team with a well - established collaborative network and strong funding. Please visit the group website: http://ki.se/ki/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=45 985&l=en The project will be focused on visualizing cellular processes underlying vessel growth and function using one - and two - photon laser - scanning microscopy both in vivo and in live cell cultures. The work will take advantage of established applications for intravital imaging in the anterior chamber of the eye (AC) and ex vivo organ cultures, but also include development of novel methods. A wide range of fluorescent repor ter s and genetically modified mou se models will be used to study vessel growth and function, both in healthy conditions and in disease state s such as tumor angiogenesis. Two new state - of - the - art confocal imaging systems will be available for these studies. Lab r eferences: Nyqvist et al., Diabetes 2011, Corada et al., Dev Cell 2010, Speier, Nyqvist et al., Nat Med 2008. Qualifications of the applicant We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with a good team spirit and deep curiosity for science. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in one - and two - photon microscopy, image processing and animal physiology with a keen interest in vascular biology. Experience in working with confocal microscopy is a must, and experience from working with mice an d molecular biology techniques is a strong plus; and good ability to communicate in English (written and verbal) is required. Candidates will be encouraged to serve as mentors for master - and PhD - students. Type of scholarship Karolinska Institutet awards scholarships to pursue postdoctora l studies. This educational scholarship, which is paid for a maximum of two years within five years after the receipt of a PhD or the equivalent, is tax - exempt. Application process An application must contain the follow ing documents in English: . Personal letter of motivation . Curriculum vitae (max 3 pages) . Complete list of publications . Summary of current work (1 page) . Two reference letter s . Ph.D. degree certificate or a formal document from the dis sertation - committee stating the date of dissertation The application is to be submitted on the NetRecruiter system ; http://ki.se/ki/jsp/polopoly.jsp?l=en&d=469&a=88392 . Starting date is negotiable, but beginning of fall 2014 is preferred. For further information please email to daniel.nyqvist@ki.se
