Dear microscopists and supervisors,
the FILM MICROSCOPY DAY 2012 is now only just over two 2 weeks - so
if you haven't done so yet, please register NOW! With all the extra bank
holidays you might have forgotten about it, but you need to register
your slot on the Matchmaking Session, your chance to get new ideas,
start networking, find solutions to your microscopy problems. Or if you
really can't make that, at least your slot in the poster session, or at
the very least to make sure there is enough catering!
SUPERVISORS and PIs: I seems that students and postdocs need a bit of a
push to take part in our Matchmaking Session. We do believe that this is
an excellent opportunity for them to present the work they are doing
(advertise your lab), find networking opportunities and on the side
practice their presentation skills. So please make sure they don't miss
out and convince them to register and take it up.
For details, see below. THE EXTENDED REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY 15
JUNE 2012)
Good imaging,
Martin
========================================================
Dear microscopists,
on FRIDAY 29 JUNE we will have the FILM MICROSCOPY DAY 2012 - as in
previous years, a day full of talks on all aspects of light microscopy,
from the very basics to very advanced technologies (in vivo imaging,
super-resolution, non-linear techniques).
The presentations will be by FILM staff (Steve, Mark and myself)
supported by two experts in their field, VALENTINA CAORSI (NHLI) on
non-linear fluorescence techniques (fluorescence lifetime imaging and
its various applications) and LUIS PIZARRO (COMPUTING) on image analysis.
We also have a special novelty: To make people aware what's going on
around them and stimulate new collaborations, we will have a MICROSCOPY
MATCH MAKER, where you FILM users are all invited to present your
exciting research projects in a short snapshot oral presentation and /
or a poster. Oral presentations are strictly limited to a MAXIMUM OF 2
MINUTES / 2 POWERPOINT SLIDES - longer discussions will be possible at
the posters over lunchtime. An excellent opportunity to initiate new
collaborations, don't miss out - PIs, please encourage your students and
postdocs to participate.
Please REGISTER BY FRIDAY 15 JUNE 2012 by email to Ruth O'Donnell
<r.odonnell(a)imperial.ac.uk>, including your MATCHMAKER OPTIONS
(presentation, poster, none).

Dear microscopists,
Sharepoint has now been completely upgraded and migrated to the new
site, and all links on our website should be updated. It seems that all
went smoothly, but two incidents of problems with access to the new
Sharepoint pages have been reported. Luckily they were easy to fix.
Please let me know if you come across any problems, either with
Sharepoint access, web links, booking problems, missing messages /
alerts or anything else.
Thnaks, and good imaging,
Martin
