Cops & Rappers ============= This Monday, we've got my personal choice of RoboCop (the original one, not the remake or any of the questionable sequels) showing for £3 for everyone, and on Tuesday and Thursday we've got Straight Outta Compton. From dystopian future Detroit, Michigan to 1980s-era Compton, California, we've got a pair of US-centred films this week as our standard term of showings draws to a close, but don't fret, because we have Of Mice and Men and Maze Runner yet to come. The usual reminder: if you plan on coming to more than 3 showings this *year*, then our Discount Pass is worth it! Buy it online and save money on your tickets (£3 instead of £4, first ticket is free, sadly no discount on NT Live performances or the All-Nighter). Just as a reminder, we're open to the public, so if you're thinking of coming and want to bring a friend from another uni (or you're from another uni yourself), please do! Still reading? Do you read these every week? If you do, why not come along and help out with our screenings as a cinema staff member? Just drop in 30-45 minutes before one of our regular showings is due to start and introduce yourself. We're a friendly bunch (at least, I think we are) and we'd love to show you what we're up to. And one last thing... the All-Nighter is coming. Prepare yourselves... It's shaping up to be a good one! - Luke, Cinema Chair 2015-16 -- RoboCop (1987): http://www.imperialcinema.co.uk/films/robocop-1987/ Monday 9th November @ 19:00 £3 Everyone In a dystopic, future crime-ridden Detroit controlled by a powerful corporation, a terminally wounded cop returns to the force as a company-owned cyborg with submerged memories haunting him. -- Straight Outta Compton: http://www.imperialcinema.co.uk/films/straight-outta-compton/ Tuesday 10th November @ 19:00 Thursday 12nd November @ 19:00 £3 with Discount Pass [see below for link!] / £4 without In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all began, Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how these cultural rebels-armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent-stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world's most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today. Straight Outta Compton stars O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, and is directed by F. Gary Gray. -- Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials: http://www.imperialcinema.co.uk/films/maze-runner-the-scorch-trials/ Tuesday 17th November @ 18:30 Thursday 19th November @ 21:30 £3 with Discount Pass [see below for link!] / £4 without Thomas and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD.
