Hi everyone, As detailed in Charlotte's last e-mail the Cinema AGM is to be held today in SAC Meeting Room 6 at 18:00. I hope you are all planning to attend but if not please be aware that as long as you are a member of Cinema Soc you can send your vote to the DPCS account and it will be considered. The manifestos I have received are below but please be aware that as yet we have no candidates for the positions of Treasurer Secretary Assistant Junior Treasurer Box Office Manager Vice Chair so these positions will be open to nominations from the floor. I hope to see you all there and please make sure that any electronic votes are with me by 17:30 at the latest. Publicity Officer - Matthew Colvin Hi there! I'm moving into my second year now and while I may not have had any experience with how the cinema has been run in the past (or its strengths and weaknesses), I'm really excited about the chance of helping out at this excellent venue. I believe that due to my lack of experience I'd be more suited to a assistant position, but that in no way means I'd put any less effort in. As for what I could bring to the role, I feel that my interests in the media sections of Imperial could be vital in ensuring that the cinema's profile is kept high in college life. I regularly contribute articles for the student newspaper Felix and have helped out with Stoic TV as well. I'd be very interested in playing a part in publicising the return of the cinema and hope that I'll be able to put my skills to great use. Chair - Chandana Shankar Hi I'm Chandana and I'd like to be Cinema Soc's chair. I've been involved with the club's revival from the first meeting and have been treasurer up until now so I have a good idea of what needs doing to get the Cinema up and running again. At the moment I've got three main objectives: 1. Get the booth in workable condition as soon as possible so that we can start training projectionists. 2. Give everyone who's interested a chance to train as a projectionist. 3. Let people know the Cinema is active again. Our success as a club depends on lots of people turning up to showings so I'd work closely with the publicity officers to advertise the Cinema to the student body. I've also got plenty of other ideas but 150 words aren't quite enough to detail them all! Sorry I can't be there on the 23rd but I'll be back in September and would very much like to take up Cinema's reins! Projectionist - Kadhim Shubber "Hi, I'm Kadhim the Felix Editor for the coming year. I don't have any prior experience but I love films and anything retro so I'm really excited about getting involved with CineSoc. I would love to be a projectionist. I'm a quick learner and I although I'll be quite busy one or two nights a week, say on a Wednesday evening with Felix, I'm more than happy to give up my spare time." [Cinema-List] Tonight's screenings cancelled

iCU Cinema Newsletter We apologise to anyone who was planning to come, but we have been forced to cancel tonight's shows due to the weather preventing the film being delivered on time. We are still planning to run the show on Thursday night at the advertised time of 6pm. To make up for it, we have decided to run the Monty Python films for an extra week! You will now be able to catch Monty Python's Holy Grail and Life of Brain at 6pm and 8pm on Thursday 5th, Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th. Only £5 for both films, and you can grab a drink from the bar downstairs, you have no excuse to miss them!

iCU Cinema Newsletter Thursday 20th October Sorry for filling your inboxes this week with mail, we promise this will be the last one. After many phone calls, lots of running around, and half a bottle of asprin tomorrow night's FREE showings are back on! Though other than the new Bond film, we probably won't be using Sony again for a while. It's free for all members. If you haven't joined yet, membership will cost £3 on the door, but you'll also get a voucher for £3 off your next ticket price with us, so that's effectively free too! We've also finalised the line-up for the all-nighter. Tickets for this amazing event will be £10 for the whole night (that's 6 films!), but if you only want to see 3 or less your ticket price will be reduced accordingly. As an extra bonus, Da Vinci's bar has agreed to stay open through out the event so feel free to grab a drink between films! Due to the DramaSoc play going on we will be closed for 2 weeks after tomorrow's screenings. Dear all, The showings for Thursday night are cancelled due to Sony (the distributor of the films) changing their mind at the very last minute... They had agreed to rent us the films for free to promote their DVD releases but didn't sign the contract in the end! We are trying to find replacements for Thursday night (if we get them on time, we will show Friday's films on Thursday night as well), and apologise to everyone. Please note that the FREE films for Friday night are still on (Step Brothers at 6pm and Pineapple Express at 9pm). Also, buying your iCU Cinema this week will get you a voucher to see another film for free whenever you want. Sorry again, iCU Cinema.

iCU Cinema Newsletter Tuesday 28th October There has been a change to next week's schedule. We were unable to get Pineapple Express for the showings, so it has been replaced by Hellboy 2. We'll be running 3 films next week, and the same 3 the week after to give you a second chance to see them (or a chance to see them again!). We should be getting Pineapple Express in towards the end of November. Sorry for any problems this has caused... Blame Sony (though not too harshly, we're negotiating something nice for you with them).
