Fw: Zhealth apologies & an intervention suggestion from Daniel
Hello All Daniel has sent apologies for this afternoon’s meeting as he isn’t well. Please see his email below on an intervention around health coaching. Many thanks Heather From: Wiesen, Daniel <wiesen@wiso.uni-koeln.de> Sent: 13 March 2026 11:05 To: Lodge, Heather A <h.lodge@imperial.ac.uk> Subject: Re: [Z-health-consortium] Z-health proposal: notes from Consortium meeting 2(a) 10 March 2026 CAUTION: This message came from outside Imperial. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognise the sender and were expecting this email. I did not forget my To Do on my list. I will send you more information about a potential coaching intervention early next week using your template. Many apologies for the delay! As mentioned during our meeting on Tuesday, I think it could be meaningful to also focus on the 18 to 25 years old. An intervention combining in-person information/training in schools (through health workers and/or teachers) combined with a digital app intervention during the last year at high school which then transitions into the time when students leave schools. The app could use goal setting techniques and peer comparisons on, for example, physical activity. A coaching intervention could be facilitated digital with a health coaches; intervention could use motivational interviewing to further enhance achievement of set goals. (Background: In a recent study (joint with Matthias Sutter) in South Africa with T2DM patient, we observe that real-time information on glucose level alone (thought CGM device and app) is not sufficient to change behavior, digital coaching significantly improves nutrition, TiT and ultimately HbA1c, paper to be written.) As to partners for Germany, we could rely on Prof. Dr. med. Stephanie Stock (Institute for Health Economics and Clinical Epidemiology, University Hospital Cologne, https://gesundheitsoekonomie.uk-koeln.de) and the BGF institute: (www.bgf-institut.de/bgf-institut/<http://www.bgf-institut.de/bgf-institut/>) a health management institute, which promotes health lifestyles. They could grant access to vocational schools with students 16+ of age. They operate Germany-wide and are a collaborator of S. Stock in another EU project. Also, Dr. Sebastian Schneider (Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Economics MPI, Bonn; Group: Prof. Dr. Matthias Sutter) with about 10 year of experience in conducting field experiments with school children in Western Germany → recently published study in the AER on the link between preferences and preventive behaviors (DOI: 10.1257/aer.20211217) could be an interesting collaborator.
