We still believe that the project idea is very strong and highly innovative. After careful internal discussion, however, we have come to the conclusion that we will unfortunately not be able to contribute to the planned pilot.

As you are certainly aware, both health and education are under the responsibility of the federal states in Germany. This means that access and implementation cannot be coordinated at the national level, but rather must be organised individually through each state. Aligning and securing these agreements would require a significant amount of time and effort. In addition, the strict data protection regulations in Germany will make a piloting even more complicated.

We wish you every success with the proposal and would be very happy to explore opportunities to collaborate with you on other projects in the future.

Thank you for a very helpful meeting yesterday. As promised, I am getting back to you with some additional information about the minimum intervention design requirements at the proposal stage (what information we need to be able to provide in the proposal on each intervention country) and a ballpark estimate of resources available within the project.

In terms of intervention design requirements, we will need you to identify:

Key local actors/ stakeholders that will be essential for the successful deployment of the intervention. For instance, you mentioned BIOG’s Youth Advisory Council that is being established, and the Academy of Public Health Professionals. I assume you will also need to identify the authorities that will need to be involved in order to involve secondary schools. For each of these key actors, we would ask you to assess whether they may require funding, and whether they should be added in the proposal as partners.
Setting(s) in which the intervention will be deployed: schools and/or other relevant settings – how many? Where are they located in the country?
Approximate numbers of young people that will be involved in each setting.

The more precise the above information is, the more credible the plan will look to reviewers.

In terms of resources that we would be able to allocate to you in the project, we have estimated this would be in the region of 60 person months (over a 4-year project duration). Much of the effort would be in WP6 (Implementation of interventions), with smaller additional contributions to other WPs.

I would like to share two brief documents (attached) containing descriptions of our two intervention packages aimed, respectively, at the age groups 12-18 and 19-25, in case they have not been shared with you before. It would be great if your Institute were willing to take the lead on implementing one pf the two packages (preferably the one for 19-25 year olds) in a sample of young people in Germany. Perhaps we can schedule a call later this week to discuss the feasibility of this.

I am reaching out to you on behalf of a partner consortium led by Imperial College London (cc-ed Franco Sassi) for a bid on the Horizon Europe call concerning behavioural interventions in young people. It has a deadline of the 16th of April 2026.

We were wondering if BIÖG would be interested in joining our proposal, titled "Z-Health - Health in the digital generation", as a leading institution from Germany that could become one of the partner countries to implement interventions and co-create with young people (age groups 12-18 and 19-25). We were very excited to learn about the launch of your Jugendbeirat (Youth Advisory Board) and thought your institution would be a great fit for our consortium.

Currently, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, the National Institute of Public Health Slovenia, Issinova, and a few others have already joined the partner consortium.

Please let us know if you would be interested in joining the bid and learning more about the project proposal itself, and we would also appreciate an answer if you are already a part of a different bid for this specific call.
