We have updated the text following your suggestions. We have added a target population of 2000 individuals for the project, 1% of the whole target population in the region. We expect to reach this figure, however, based on our experience that does not mean that they are fully engaged with the digital platform, the adherence rates vary significantly over time.

 

Does the project envision that the target population (2000 individuals in our case) complete surveys, questionnaires and other stuff related to evaluation?

Thank you very much for the contribution you have sent. I have a couple of comments, as follows:

1. It would be helpful if you could provide some more details, to keep your intervention description in line with those of other countries. In particular, I think what’s missing in your description at the moment is the experience you have made in JACARDI with your pilot implementation focused on young people. It would be very helpful if you could add a paragraph on that experience, and explain how you plan to build on that in this new project.
2. My second comment is about the proposed scale of implementation. Unlike in JACARDI, where the focus is on pilots, in this call the European Commission wants to see implementation of interventions “at scale”. In other countries, including North Macedonia that has a significantly smaller population compared to the Basque Country, the numbers of young people we intend to reach is in the thousands. I strongly suspect that an intervention on 100 young people would not be seen as implementation at scale. I wonder if you could think of ways in which the target group could be expanded in the Basque Country. Of course you will have a lot of support from project partners, so this does not need to create capacity issues for you.

 

Please, let me know if the above changes are feasible.

I hope you had a good Easter break. As we are approaching the submission date, I would like to make sure we have all we need from you for finalising the proposal.

 

I would like to confirm, first of all, that you will be implementing the intervention for the age group 19-25, following on from the JACARDI pilot you are currently running. As in JACARDI, the characteristics of the intervention that will eventually be implemented will be the result of a co-creation process that will take place at the start of the project. We envisage interventions to start in September-October 2027. As you know from the intervention plan that will be included in the proposal (attached here – Intervention package 2), we plan to start the intervention in the final year of secondary school, when the young people we want to reach are still 18, and we will then follow up those young people as they make the transition to tertiary education or work in the following years.

 

In line with this, it would be helpful if you could send us some information as follows:

 

1. If possible, provide some context (a couple of paragraphs maximum) on the three health conditions that we are considering in the project (obesity, mental health and addictions) in young people in the Basque Country.
2. Identify key local players that may need to be involved for the successful implementation of the interventions (e.g. school authorities, youth organisations, etc.). Please, consider whether any of these actors may require resources from the project for their involvement, and whether they may need to be listed as partners or sub-contractors in the proposal.
3. Identify the sites where the interventions will take place. How many with they be? Where are they located in the country?
4. Identify approximate numbers of young people who will be involved in the above sites.

 

I am attaching the intervention description that has been provided by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health for this proposal. This is focused on the younger age group, but it is comprehensive and well written, so you may use this as an example.
