Meeting about using computers in teaching next year...
Dear All, ***If you want to use computers in your teaching next academic year this effects you*** My apologies that for most of you this will have no relevance but I wasn't sure how to make sure that I didn't miss anybody. Also for similar reasons apologies for posting both to the staff list and the Departmental Computing list so some of you will get this twice. I went to a FoNS meeting today about teaching and a few things came up there that I think that we should discuss - just to make sure that we are OK for our plans. I have added Adrian and Moira from ICT in the hope that they might be able to join us or send somebody else from ICT. Because term is approaching faster than an express train with a drunk driver slumped over the controls snoring gently, I want to have this meeting sooner rather than later. I figured that Monday was unrealistic but have just picked two late lunchtime slots Tuesday and Wednesday in a doodle poll at: https://doodle.com/poll/ebdqf79ky5gcqez4 If you cannot make either but want to be part of this then please entre your name in the doodle poll, tick neither and mail me (not the lists) about your interest. If enough cannot make it then I will widen the range but if we could do it on either day then that would be great even if some people mail me with their requirements rather than being ther in person. I will also produce minutes. I am hoping that this will be quite a short meeting but there is scope for a lot to go wrong here and I want to make sure that we are heading it off before it happens. Apologies again, if this does not apply to you - please just delete this. Best, david
Sorry, to generate more traffic - a couple of people have asked me to clarify what I mean by "use computers in teaching" - pointing out that everybody will be recording lectures etc. I should have been more clear and this is my fault. Specifically, what I meant was if you teach something that would normally use computing suite on level 3 or anything that would use stuff from the software hub. Although if you have any other areas of concern then this would be a good meeting at which to raise them. Especially if you think that you might need support. Sorry for being vague originally. best, david On 11/09/2020 20:20, David Colling wrote:
