Fwd: Research Software Engineering mailing list
Hi , Below is an email from Jeremy Cohen from DoC. He is trying to buildd a community of research software engineers throughout college. I think that anything that raises the profile of the people doing this sort of work is a good thing. So please forward this to anybody in your groups who may be interested. best, david -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Research Software Engineering mailing list Date: Thu, 5 Nov 2015 11:48:01 +0000 From: Jeremy Cohen <jeremy.cohen@imperial.ac.uk> To: David Colling <d.colling@imperial.ac.uk> Hi David, Find below an e-mail advertising the Research Software Engineering (RSE) community that I'm setting up. Feel free to forward to anyone you think may be interested. Regards, Jeremy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear all, As part of a plan to build a Research Software Engineering (RSE) community within Imperial, a mailing list has been set up that will be used to advertise events and disseminate RSE-related information to software engineers, researchers, academics and any other interested parties within College. This builds on a recent RSE session held as part of the ICT HPC Service's Summer School event. The session had good attendance and feedback suggests there is enthusiasm for creating such a community within Imperial and having regular meetings. Initially, the plan is to have RSE community meetings approximately once a month lasting for 1-2 hours and consisting of one or two short technical talks followed by drinks and networking. The first meeting of the community, the RSE community kick-off meeting, will take place on Wednesday 2nd December from 16:30. Further details will be sent out nearer the time. You can sign up to the mailing list here: https://mailman.ic.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/rse For more information on the Imperial RSE community, see the RSE web pages at: http://www.imperial.ac.uk/computational-methods/rse/ Please feel free to disseminate this information to anyone else within College that you think may be interested. Kind regards, Jeremy -- Dr Jeremy Cohen Research Fellow Department of Computing Imperial College London South Kensington Campus London, SW7 2AZ
