Departmental computing meeting next Monday (14/4/14)
Dear All, I now have to go to CERN on Tuesday and so as Tuesday and Monday are jointly first in the doodle poll I thought that we should set this for Monday. ********************************************************* Please mail the list if you cannot make this. If enough people are off because of the school holidays then we will have to move untila after Easter but if this can be avoided it should be. ********************************************************* One of the things that I agreed to do after our meeting with Mike Russell today was to put together a rough document about the Departments Research Computing needs. This includes HPC, storage, network, HTC, etc etc. So if I could ask people to start to do this for the different groups it would be very good. Are there specific items for the agenda? Best, david
Dear All, Just a reminder that we have a meeting this lunchtime. The usual time is 12:30 so we will go with that. Feel free to bring your lunch with you. Room details will follow this morning. I didn't have any specific requests for agenda items so I just have: - Actions from last meeting - News from ICT - Software licenses - Teaching: o First year comp o Second year comp o AV in lecture theatres etc o Panopto etc o BB o Lab view licensing for students - Research computing o Machine housing o Resource needs (HTC, HPC, Disk of different sorts, Network etc) o Data Science Institute - Meeting with Mike Russell (although key points will probably have been covered earlier). - Any group news not already covered. - AoB I think that this will probably be quite a short meeting but it is good to meet up from time to time.
