Hi All, We only have 8 preferences and crucially nobody from ICT has yet replied (Ellen?), also I meant to invite Leigh who will explain how the ticketting system is being improved - that was my failure. So if I could ask people to fill in the poll by (say) tomorrow lunchtime then we can set a day/time. Sorry that this is short notice. Also if you have anything else that you would like to add to the agenda then please let me know. Best, david On 14/03/2022 19:00, David Colling wrote:
Dear All,
There will be a FoNS Research Computing Meeting next week and I would like us to have a Physics Departmental Computing meeting before this if at all possible. As we normally have these at lunch time I have set up a doodle poll with 12:00->13:00 and 13:00->14:00 for the rest of this week. You can find the poll at:

Two of the things that I would like to discuss in particular (as well as several other things) are:
- Research software engineers - how many people in your research groups spend more of their time writing code, often for more than one research area than anything else? If there was a way of pooling this effort that provided employment continuity and a promotion stucture would this be of interest to groups?
- FAIR data - how are groups fulfilling their commitments to FAIR data? We mentioned this last time but there is a college wide discussion being had here and I want to make sure that physics' needs are catered for.
Best, david
