It looks like Friday 12->13:00 is the winner. On the agenda so far I have: - ICT ticketing - RSEs - FAIR data needs I will also ask for a general update from ICT. If you have more items then please let me know (apologies if you have sent something this afternoon - I have been in meetings). Best, david On 15/03/2022 18:33, David Colling wrote:
Hi,
I meant to add that the meeting will have at least some teams (or zoom) component. It may be completely over video or if we can there may be an in college compponent as well.

Hi All,
We only have 8 preferences and crucially nobody from ICT has yet replied (Ellen?), also I meant to invite Leigh who will explain how the ticketting system is being improved - that was my failure. So if I could ask people to fill in the poll by (say) tomorrow lunchtime then we can set a day/time. Sorry that this is short notice.
Also if you have anything else that you would like to add to the agenda then please let me know.
Best, david

Dear All,
There will be a FoNS Research Computing Meeting next week and I would like us to have a Physics Departmental Computing meeting before this if at all possible. As we normally have these at lunch time I have set up a doodle poll with 12:00->13:00 and 13:00->14:00 for the rest of this week. You can find the poll at:
https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/7axxy0ra
Two of the things that I would like to discuss in particular (as well as several other things) are:
- Research software engineers - how many people in your research groups spend more of their time writing code, often for more than one research area than anything else? If there was a way of pooling this effort that provided employment continuity and a promotion stucture would this be of interest to groups?
- FAIR data - how are groups fulfilling their commitments to FAIR data? We mentioned this last time but there is a college wide discussion being had here and I want to make sure that physics' needs are catered for.
Best, david
