Hi Adrian, Thanks for the update. Will there be any "down time" when no compiilers are available between us taking down the current compilers and putting up the new ones? If there is then this should be advertised widely (and minimised). Best, david On 15/08/11 13:42, Mannall, Adrian B wrote:
All,
As a result of further investigations it appears that our software supplier misread the original requirements and sold us the wrong compiler.
We are now working to resolve this to ensure that the full Composer XE suite is available (so Fortran and C/C++ compilers). We have to take the Fortran license down and confirm in writing that we have done so after which Intel will issue a correct license for the full suite, etc.
There is no cost to anyone as the Faculty is paying the uplift.
I can only apologise for any inconvenience caused by this – we will be working closely with the supplier to ensure that such an issue doesn’t happen again.
Kind regards
Adrian

All,
As you know the Faculty has funded the purchase of Intel compilers in the past and this year funded the purchase of the Intel Fortran Linux compiler.
It has subsequently come to light that one or two people may have been using the C / C++ element of the previous compiler suite which is currently not available.
In order to gauge the requirement and to try and find a resolution to this I would be grateful if you could indicate whether your users have any use of the C/C++ element and thus would require an on-going access to the C++ compiler suite.
If there is a demand then those who need it will probably need to agree to funding a license this year – a 2 seat floating license for this would cost approx. £350 + VAT so £420 all in – which if split between say two or three groups would be a reasonably small sum to find.
I am on leave for the next week but would if possible appreciate answers regarding compiler usage by the end of the 19^th August so that we can try and resolve this for those currently affected.
Kind regards
Adrian.
