Hi All, One further (important) item has been added to adgenda, which is plagiarism in projects that involve a significant amount of computing. These often appear on github. Best, david On 01/07/2022 17:07, David Colling wrote:
Hi All,
Thursday was the clear winner and as Leigh has been able to shuffle things around to also be able to make it then that is what we will go with. The meeting will be mixed mode with those in college in Blackett 532 and those remote over teams. The time slot is 12:00->13:00
The items on the agenda for the meeting on the 14th were
◦ Support in level 3 computing suite o Machines not in slings, unplugged, not working, incomplete software installations etc etc
◦ Software needed on teaching machines o Around this time each year we define the software suite for these machines
◦ Ability to install software on lab machines o This has caused us major problems, with us almost cancelling a course because of it.
◦ Linux support in a post H: drive world (especially in teaching labs) o We have at least one experiment in the teaching labs that uses Linux machines for the students to take data.
◦ Any other teaching items
My notes indicate that the only other items that came up were OneDrive related (especially syncing) as these are used as lab books now and are assessed. My notes may be incomplete on this one.
Does anybody have anything else to add to the agenda?

Hi All,
Thanks for filling in the poll. I am assuming that everybody else who is interested can make any day. The most popular is Thursday next week. Unfortunately Leigh cannot make this day. Leigh is there anyway at all that you can make that day or possibly send a deputy?

Dear All,
You will recall that during our Physics Computing Committee meeting on the 14th that there were a significant number of teaching related issue. We decided to have a separate meeting with more people from ICT rather than just poor Ellen on whom lots of actions were landing. Ellen has suggested that the correct people from ICT are Leigh Davenport and Neil Hanham as well as Ellen herself. I have created a doodle poll for all concerned. As we tend to have computing meetings at lunchtime I have stuck to lunchtimes for this meeting. If that is not workable I will broaden but lets try this first. Anybody will be welcome at this meeting but I think that we need at least the 3 people from ICT, Luke, the heads of first and second year computing and anybody who uses computing in their courses.
The doodle poll is at:

Please can you fill it in by 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday) so that I can try to mail a date tomorrow evening.
