For the quasi-3D simulation, a small perturbation should be applied at the initial stage, especially in the spanwise direction. At least for the w velocity component if you want to use a 2-D field for u,v and p components.

Therefore,  a Gaussian Noise generator "awgn(0.0001)" will help as,
    <FUNCTION NAME="InitialConditions">   
      <E VAR="u" VALUE="awgn(0.0001)" />       
      <E VAR="v" VALUE="awgn(0.0001)" />             
      <E VAR="w" VALUE="awgn(0.0001)" />             
      <E VAR="p" VALUE="awgn(0.0001)" />

Hi.

I am trying to run a simulation of a flow past a cylinder.
I am using the mesh of the flow stability analysis tutorial and my results are completely two dimensional. No three dimensionalities are present.
The xml is attached to this message.
Can anyone check if I missed something or what I did wrong?
