Hi Stanisław, all

I have a follow up question about this. The options --noequispaced and --useSessionExpansion helped me get the visualizations I want on quadrature points. However, it is still too coarse for me and I'd like to make a vtu file with more points. I am trying the module "interppoints"

./FieldConvert-g -m interppoints:fromxml=onlycube.xml:fromfld=onlycube.fld:line=100,-1,-1,-1,1,1,1 file2.vtu

Interpolating:  99% [=================================================]

Writing: "file2.vtu"

Fatal   : Level 0 assertion violation

Where   : ~/nektar++/library/FieldUtils/OutputModules/OutputVtk.cpp[86]

Message : VTK output needs setting up for ePtsFile and ePtsLine

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Nektar::ErrorUtil::NekError'

  what():  Level 0 assertion violation

Where   : ~/nektar++/library/FieldUtils/OutputModules/OutputVtk.cpp[86]

Message : VTK output needs setting up for ePtsFile and ePtsLine

Can someone please explain this error message and how to resolve this. I assume the only output allowed in this module is .dat file because I am able to generate that without any problem. However, the .dat file lacks the geometry information.
Also, how can I retain the time-series information in the above function. Does this only work on .fld files?

I am looking for a way to merge the output of the above function (.dat file) to an existing vtu file. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks
V

Hi Stanisław,

Thanks for suggesting this. Using only equispaced did not work for me.
 I tried the two options together --noequispaced and --useSessionExpansion and it worked!

Cheers,
V

Hi,
Not sure if this is what you need, but there is a -n option to be used with a number of modes to be outputted. And one for not equispaced output. Type FieldConvert with no option for a concise help.

Stan

Hi,

I am wondering if there is a way to specify the number of points and basis type while converting chk -> vtu?
I notice that irrespective of the quadrature points specified in the session file, the resulting vtu always has nummodes points.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
V
