Dear Professor Sherwin,

Sorry for the late reply and thank you for your help!

Now we are trying to do cardiovascular flow simulation by Incompressible Navier-Stokes Solver. I want to use RCR model(Windkessel model) to set boundary conditions of pressure in the outlet of vessels.

Here is the wiki page of Windkessel
model(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windkessel_effect). Basically, we want to use the three-element Windkessel model(on that wiki page) and set parameters(R1, R2 and C) of the model in Nektar++ input file and run the simulation.  Since we may have multiple outlets of a vessel, we also want to have the free to set Windkessel model boundaries for different outlets of the vessel.

If the information I provide is not enough or unclear, please let me know.

Many Thanks!

Best,

Zhen

Hi Both,

If we could document what we would like to have for the pressure BC related to the RCR condition I could help you get this implementation sorted.

Cheers,
Spencer.

There isn't an RCR boundary condition implemented in the N-S solver. I attempted this a year or so ago, but got bogged down.
There is a Womersley velocity boundary condition implemented.

If you would like to work on contributing this feature. I would be willing to help.

Dear all,

I am trying to do a cardiovascular simulation by using Incompressible N-S solver in Nektar++. Here I have two questions about setting boundary conditions.

First, how can I set RCR(windkessel model) boundary condition if I use Incompressible N-S solver? Is there any similar input file I can find?

Second, do I need to make all the variable dimensionless when I set boundary conditions?

Thank you very much!

Best,

Zhen
