Dear People, Quick word with regard to BUCS: For those who were not aware, next weekend will see twelve Imperial College Judo representants fight in the National University Champuionships held in Sheffield. This event representants by far the most important event on the university competition calendar. The team will be leaving Friday afternoon for the 6pm weigh-in and will be staying in Uiversity of Sheffield student Accomodation. Saturday will see the individual event kick off, with both Kyu grade (Green/Blue Event) and Dan grade event (Brown/Black Belt) taking place simultaneously, and Sunday will see Imperial Men and Women Team fight for the National Team title. As most of you know, all BUCS points, used to rank british universities in order of sporting achievements, will be attributed over that same event. Last year, IC Judo convincingly collected 35 points thanks to some good individual performance as well as a 3rd place Bronze in the Men Team event. IC Judo contributed to Imperial's overall 17th place in the national ranking, and top spot amongst London Universities. Consequently, we have receive considerable support from Imperial, amongst other obtaining the training slot at the Budokwai, which I hope you have enjoyed. Although this year's preparation for BUCS has been disjointed and rushed for some of us, I am confident that our fresh-faced team will put in some good performances and show our Welsh,Scottish and Irish colleagues what us scientific geeks are mad of on a mat. On a separate note, I know that some of you have failed to qualify because of grade requirement of green belt, which to me is slightly nonsense, and I can imagine that you are disapointed no to be joigning us next weekend. I hope this will push you to train even harder next year and that you'll put in the required effort to qualify for BUSC 2012. In the meantine, I would like, on behalf of IC Judo, to wish the best of luck to all of whom will be taking part in BUCS. IC Judo Team tracksuits will be handed out at the end of Monday's session. See you all then, Edouard ICJC Team Captain w: http://www.union.ic.ac.uk/acc/judo e: judo@imperial.ac.uk
