Hey all! This email is long and full of INFO,read! (Most important 'late' FYI: NO SESSION TONIGHT,all knackered from the week end) 1.BUCS Little heads up on the week end! As you know it was the british national universities championships (BUCS) held in sheffield tis week end. To say the list we had a really good week end with 9 of us competing and two team entries. On saturday the individual event started in the not so warm icesheffield arena. In the kyu grades division:alex, wali and tom all won gold with some nice judo displays. In the dan grades:both girls were drawn in tough pool and didnt get pass this stage.ben and will although winning one, this wasnt sufficient to allow them through to the next round. In u73kg, ed secured bronze and rahul lost in final settling with silver. On sunday, girls were unlucky to be drawn in tough pool with Bath (eventual winner),Oxford(Bronze) and Cambridge. In the men event, after beating glasgow, manchester in the pools, birmingham in the quarter finals, loosing to Bath in the semi, ICJC beat Loughborough to bring the team bronze home... Report and pics coming up!While this is coming check the union website! : http://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/news/imperial-win-10-medals-at-bucs,344,... A very sincere Well done to everyone who took part,it was a great week end for ICJC...The best BUCS championships the club had in a while... 2. MAT FEES FOR THIS YEAR We have put a new product online for the mat fees. We didnt charge judo classes 'to the session' during the year because we think it's a real hassle( most martial art clubs do it this way, charging 3-5£ per session). We prefer to have a one off payment that all members pay at the end of the year. In terms of fincance the club is fine but next year ALL union clubs are expected a big financial cut so we need to make sure we have our back covered for next year. If you enjoy the sessions so far this year, follow the link and pay your mat fees. We don't want to chase naughty members so do it asap.Thanks. http://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/judo-144/category.html 3. TRAININGS FOR END OF TERM/3rdTERM A note on trainings. Usually after BUCS we decrease the amount of training because most poeple are revising and have exams. So from now on practice will only be taking place on WEDNESDAYS (and no more mondays including today).Session will be sliglthly longer too.(from 7.30pm to 9-9.30pm~2hours) 4.AGM DINNER/ NEXT YEAR's COMMITTEE Saturday night we'll hold our annual unformal dinner at Nandos on gloucester road, 7pm.COME! http://www.nandos.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=model.restaurant&id=184&cat=RES... He/she claims the money (checks) from the union when required by other officers. c. Team Captain: Needs to be an advanced player who has experience in judo tournament and can lead/coach players during tournaments. There are only a few of us currently involved in the admin side of the club. There's a lot to do but with a few more volunteers the workload would be much more manageable. It's fun and you get to have an input into what goes on. Now the club is nice and stettled in Ethos, things should be running much more smoothly from next year. It is a great thing to put on your CV, you can mention how responsabilities within the club has helped you in everyday life. Most importantly it is actually a good experience and does help in managing yourself+if it wasn't for my position this year in the club (mentioned in my CV:) I don't know wether I would have got my internship this summer... Please email me any interest or question on any position you would be intersted in taking, so we can have a think about it and prepare elections for this week end.
