Evening all, So a few things coming up: This *SUNDAY 11.30am-1.30pm* at the Budokwai we will be having an extra training session with the guys from St Pauls college and Cambridge Judo club are coming down. The format will be training followed by matches with Cambridge. Those who don't want to fight are more than welcome to come for the training only, and afterwards there will be some refreshments. Cost is £3 only. If you want to just come and watch, it's free! Please *email me back as soon as possible with your name and weight *if you want to go! Secondly, on the *24th November (Saturday)*, we will be going to the *London Open*. It's a great competition for every level, being banded 'white-orange belt', 'green and blue belt', and 'brown and black belt'. So even if you've only just begun, you'll be fighting people of your level. It's fantastic for starting (I will testify to this as it was my first ever judo competition!), and only £16. We usually go for a meal and then onto house party (anyone fancy hosting this one???) afterwards, so also a good way to get to know everyone in the club! If you want to enter, please send the following details to *Phil ( philip.rudden09@imperial.ac.uk)*:* * - *Full Name* - *Date of Birth* - *License Number* - *Weight Category (if you know it)* - *Current Weight* - *Grade* Phil will then give you back his details to ask for payment and will enter you into the competition. The deadline is fast-approaching, so* get entered as soon as you can*! *For our beginners: *If you're *not signed up *for the Student Voucher Booklet Scheme, please* reply to this* and I'll make sure you're put on the list. It's a great way to get hold of a load of free stuff, including your British Judo License (you must have this in order to train in Judo), and a judo suit for £6. If you're *on the list *and need a code to get your free license and your gi, give me a quick mail and I will send you your code. Once you've had your four free sessions, please remember to* buy membership(you can buy membership here<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/club-society-project-products/judo-products/224/judo-membership-12/13> ),* and *pay the reduced mat fees (found here<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/club-society-project-products/judo-products/1120/beginners-mat-fees---autumn-term> ).* Mat fees are a termly payment to help cover the cost of ground and coach hire, and it's vital that everyone pays their fair share so we can continue with our training. If you feel you've got the basics of judo, please come along to our other training sessions as well, it'd be great to see some more new faces there! We train at: * Weds 1-3pm at the Budokwai (4 Gilston Road, SW10 9SL) Friday 7.15-9pm at Ethos Dance Studio* *For non-beginners:* Sorry, nothing so exciting as freebies for you lot, just a quick note to please *pay membership (here<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/club-society-project-products/judo-products/224/judo-membership-12/13> ) *and* mat fees (here<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/shop/club-society-project-products/judo-products/638/mat-fees---autumn-term> )*. I can access a list at any time, and will be hunting you down individually if you haven't paid soon. So first, big Chris will come and rugby-tackle you to the ground and then politely (or not so politely, depending on his mood) ask you to pay mat fees until you promise to. Failing that, I will chase you with a blunt sword!!! So please pay :) Sorry for the long email, but I hope the colourfulness made it more bearable! Much Judo love, Alice Club Captain
