Guys do you know of anyone who would be suitable or interested??
Rhonda
Hi Rhonda,
Very nice to speak to you earlier. As promised, here’s some more information for you about the documentary we are making…
As I said, this year, the British Sumo Wrestling Federation will be training up the first ever British team of female Sumo Wrestlers to represent Great Britain at the Women’s Sumo World Championships in Japan in October. At the moment, Britain has only one competitive female sumo wrestler, called Jackie Bates. This year, however, the British Sumo Federation are keen to find other strong women like her who would be interested in trying their hand at involved sumo wrestling and help to make Britain’s first ever all woman sumo wrestling team. The training and the Championships will be filmed as part of a one hour, one off Channel 4 documentary. All the training will be conducted by the British Sumo Wrestling Federation in Derby
The link below should take you to a newspaper article that will give you a bit more information on Jackie and the sport.

At the moment we are busy looking to find big, strong, determined women who might be interested in putting themselves forward for team selection and wondered if any of your judo contacts might be interested in it. If you do know of anyone, it would be great if you could get them to get in touch with us.
They can either email me or call me on: 0207 013 4562. Alternatively, please do feel free to forward this email on to them and they can contact me directly. I will be able to call them straight back. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your time and hopefully hear from you soon,
Kind regards,
Dom Waugh
