Student Voucher Scheme Update - Imperial College Judo Club

Hello Everyone! This email is for those of you that have already filled in the online form for the Student Voucher Scheme and for those that still have to do it. You may have noticed when filling out the form that it did not ask you for your credit/debit card details. It turns out that the online form is not correct and you have to use the downloadable form instead (which I have attached). Don't worry, it only takes a couple of minutes! 1) Download the application form (see attachment) 2) Fill your details in with your favourite word processor 3) Email the completed form (2 pages) to bja(a)britishjudo.org.uk Our official Club Name is Imperial College University Judo Club Our Club Number is 5025 That's it! Joining the Club! - Imperial College Judo

Hello Everyone! As promised, here is the step-by-step walkthrough on how to join the club and get everything sorted out! 1) Club Membership: As with all other Clubs at Imperial, the first step to become a member is to get your Club membership. * Go here: https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/activities/a-to-z/judo * Log-in with your Imperial username and password * Get your membership under 'Join Judo' The more members join the Club the more grant we receive from the Union to subsidies our activities! 2) British Judo Licence To practice Judo in the UK, go to competitions, and grade, you need to have a British Judo Licence. Fortunately, as a member of our club, you can get the licence at a heavily discounted price (£20). You will also get with it a new judo gi and your first grading for free! * Go here: http://www.britishjudo.org.uk/clubs/my-club/initiatives-and-programmes/svs/ * Scroll down * Click on '(SVS) Online Registration Form' * Fill it in with your personal details The British Judo Licence will be sent to you and the judo gi will be sent to the club. The first batch of gis will be sent on the 16th so make sure to fill the form before that to get your gi as soon as possible! 3) Mat Fees [going live this weekend] Mat Fees cover all of the day to day costs of the Club (coaching, equipment, etc...) and will allow you to not have to pay each session individually. Imperial College Judo Club - First Training !

Hello Everyone! Firstly, a huge welcome to everyone joining us this year! It was a pleasure to meet you all at Freshers' Fair today. Hopefully you are all excited to throw yourselves into Judo and we are sure you will enjoy it as much as we do ( i.e. a LOT! ). If you are coming back for another year of fun and training ... welcome back ! This year will be even more exciting ! Here is everything you need to know for the beginning of term. If you have any other question don't hesitate to ask. Training Sessions: We run three training sessions per week: Wednesday - 12:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday - 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Friday - 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm Wednesday's and Thursday's sessions are held in the Union Gym, Level 3 of the Imperial College Union Building. Friday's session is held at iGym London, the Woodwards Buildings gym in North Acton. Feel free to come to as many sessions as you can / want! First Session: Our first Taster Session is TOMORROW ( Wednesday 4th ) from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. If you can, try to be there a bit earlier so that you can get changed in time. Please bring comfortable sports clothing that does not restrict your range of movement. Some tracksuit trousers and an old tshirt you don't mind getting stretched would be just fine. We do have a selection of judogis ( Judo uniforms ) that you can borrow but we might not have enough for everyone! In tomorrow's session we will start from the basics, giving you a gentle introduction to Judo ( literally meaning the 'gentle way' ). You will learn how to fall ( first step in learning how to throw others ) and progress on some basic ground and standing techniques. If you are already a seasoned judoka don't worry though ! The session will be perfect to get you back in the swing of things and there will be plenty of other higher graded members to train with :) If you cannot be there tomorrow just come along to any of our other sessions. There will always be someone there to help you! Membership and fees: This week and next week's sessions will all be completely free! Just come along to any of them and give Judo a go! Hello Everyone! I hope that you are all as excited as we are for the beginning of a new year of Judo at Imperial !!! Freshers' Fair is coming up this Tuesday 3 October (11am-4pm) and we are looking for volunteers! If you are in the area and would like to help don't hesitate to let us now. The more people we have at the stall the funnier it will be! It's our biggest opportunity to attract new people to Judo so even if you can only spare very little of your time it would still mean a lot to the Club! Hope to see you all very soon! Welcome back everyone! Apologies for the lack of training last week, we had the bank holiday followed by graduation which meant we couldn't use the gym. As many of you are busy with exams and deadlines, we will have a slightly altered timetable: Mondays: 20:00 - 21:30 Wednesdays: 12:00 - 14:00 Mondays will be slightly more beginner oriented but we would like to encourage everyone to come to both sessions if you can make it. Hello everyone, Just a few important notices for the last week of term: 1. AGM on Monday the 20th of March (tomorrow) at 19:00 in ACEX 400A Please come along if you are a member of the club but remember you can only vote or run if you have bought membership this year. It it really important to have a full committee to guarantee the smooth running of the club next year. If you want to run for a position but can't make it, please let us know and we can make arrangements. 2. Team photo On Tuesday at 12:50 we have our club photo at the Union! Please bring your Gi! Do try and make it a little earlier if possible and anyone can come. 3. No training after Wednesday Our last session this term is on Wednesday at 12:00-14:00. There will be no training on Friday and we will be back after the Easter holidays on the 1st of May. Please come to the AGM. See you all tomorrow! AGM, no training next Monday and mat fees

Good Morning all! A few notices for you attention: 1. NO TRAINING NEXT MONDAY 13th of MARCH. Due to cleaning of the union gym we cannot have training next Monday. Feel free to go to ethos as an alternative. 2. AGM - Our annual general meeting will take place at 19:00 on Monday the 20th of March. This is when we vote in the new committee for next year. We need as many members as possible to come!!! We need people there to run for positions and to vote for them as they will be in charge of the club for the next year. If you wish to run for a position here is a run down of the roles: * President: Responsible for running the club, coordinating the committee and representing the club. Tasks: book the training room and organize trainings, reply to email from prospective judo members, represent the club in front of the Union, manage the finances with the treasurer, organize the committee, make sure the year run smoothly (fresher’s fair,competitions, trainings, socials). * Secretary: Emailing the club regularly, organising committee meetings and taking the minutes. Looking after the email account with the president. * Treasurer: manage the finance of the club. Tasks: manage the coach payment, competition fees, union products, budget and all money in/out. * Competition Secretary: Sign people up for, and manage the organisation of competitions. Also look for new competitions in a timely manner. * Social Secretary: Organize socials: ACC and Christmas diner are key and other socials on top. * Men’s captain: Support and lead the men’s team also help with other club roles * Women’s captain: Support and lead the women’s team also help with other club roles * Webmaster Maintain the online presence of the Judo club by managing the web page and social media accounts. If you wish to run please provide a short manifesto stating why you want to run, what skills you bring to the role, and what your plans are for the club and email it to judo(a)imperial.ac.uk. If you are unable to attend please email the club with your manifesto and we can vote for you at the AGM. 3. Spring Term Mat Fees. Please purchase the spring mat fees if you have been training this term. It is how we pay our coaches and ensures we can have 3 sessions a week. We will be chasing you up if you haven't paid by the end of term.
