Hello Everyone! Our first competition of the year is coming up in a few weeks! On Sunday 12th November 2017 we will be going to the London Open, a friendly competition between students from all over London. If you have never competed before this is the perfect opportunity to get a feel of what competitive judo is all about. We always have a lot of fun and you all have very good chances of bringing home some medals! There is also a Team Trophy up for grabs, the more we are the more chances we have to win it! Student Voucher Scheme Update - Imperial College Judo Club

Hello Everyone! This email is for those of you that have already filled in the online form for the Student Voucher Scheme and for those that still have to do it. You may have noticed when filling out the form that it did not ask you for your credit/debit card details. It turns out that the online form is not correct and you have to use the downloadable form instead (which I have attached). Don't worry, it only takes a couple of minutes! 1) Download the application form (see attachment) 2) Fill your details in with your favourite word processor 3) Email the completed form (2 pages) to bja(a)britishjudo.org.uk Our official Club Name is Imperial College University Judo Club Our Club Number is 5025 That's it! Joining the Club! - Imperial College Judo

Hello Everyone! As promised, here is the step-by-step walkthrough on how to join the club and get everything sorted out! 1) Club Membership: As with all other Clubs at Imperial, the first step to become a member is to get your Club membership. * Go here: https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/activities/a-to-z/judo * Log-in with your Imperial username and password * Get your membership under 'Join Judo' The more members join the Club the more grant we receive from the Union to subsidies our activities! 2) British Judo Licence To practice Judo in the UK, go to competitions, and grade, you need to have a British Judo Licence. Fortunately, as a member of our club, you can get the licence at a heavily discounted price (£20). You will also get with it a new judo gi and your first grading for free! * Go here: http://www.britishjudo.org.uk/clubs/my-club/initiatives-and-programmes/svs/ * Scroll down * Click on '(SVS) Online Registration Form' * Fill it in with your personal details The British Judo Licence will be sent to you and the judo gi will be sent to the club. The first batch of gis will be sent on the 16th so make sure to fill the form before that to get your gi as soon as possible! 3) Mat Fees [going live this weekend] Mat Fees cover all of the day to day costs of the Club (coaching, equipment, etc...) and will allow you to not have to pay each session individually. Imperial College Judo Club - First Training !

Hello Everyone! Firstly, a huge welcome to everyone joining us this year! It was a pleasure to meet you all at Freshers' Fair today. Hopefully you are all excited to throw yourselves into Judo and we are sure you will enjoy it as much as we do ( i.e. a LOT! ). If you are coming back for another year of fun and training ... welcome back ! This year will be even more exciting ! Here is everything you need to know for the beginning of term. If you have any other question don't hesitate to ask. Training Sessions: We run three training sessions per week: Wednesday - 12:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday - 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Friday - 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm Wednesday's and Thursday's sessions are held in the Union Gym, Level 3 of the Imperial College Union Building. Friday's session is held at iGym London, the Woodwards Buildings gym in North Acton. Feel free to come to as many sessions as you can / want! First Session: Our first Taster Session is TOMORROW ( Wednesday 4th ) from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. If you can, try to be there a bit earlier so that you can get changed in time. Please bring comfortable sports clothing that does not restrict your range of movement. Some tracksuit trousers and an old tshirt you don't mind getting stretched would be just fine. We do have a selection of judogis ( Judo uniforms ) that you can borrow but we might not have enough for everyone! In tomorrow's session we will start from the basics, giving you a gentle introduction to Judo ( literally meaning the 'gentle way' ). You will learn how to fall ( first step in learning how to throw others ) and progress on some basic ground and standing techniques. If you are already a seasoned judoka don't worry though ! The session will be perfect to get you back in the swing of things and there will be plenty of other higher graded members to train with :) If you cannot be there tomorrow just come along to any of our other sessions. There will always be someone there to help you! Membership and fees: This week and next week's sessions will all be completely free! Just come along to any of them and give Judo a go! We'll help you sort everything out if you need help :) Social Media: We have a Facebook group where most of the more informal and spontaneous organisation happens. This includes updates on socials, competitions, training times, judo videos and much more!
