Dear all,
As I mentioned before, the elections will be done on-line this year.
Nominations are now open ( here<https://vote.union.ic.ac.uk/login.php> ) and you can enter until Sunday 2 March. Manifestos and photos can be uploaded already. However, campaigning cant start until Monday 3 March. I will organize an AGM that Monday so you can explain why you want to run for a position. and people can ask questions to the candidates.
The Big Election Rules are run according to the Union’s Major Election Regulations<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/sites/default/files/Bye-Laws%20Nov%202…> alongside some additional rules set by the Returning Officer . These differ slightly from the Minor Election Rules<https://www.imperialcollegeunion.org/sites/default/files/CSPElections%20201…> that Club, Society & Project elections usually use and which are outlined in our training materials. One key difference is that no-one from your society will be acting as the returning officer – therefore all questions should be directed to elections(a)imperial.ac.uk<mailto:elections@imperial.ac.uk>.
Being part of the committee is fun and very rewarding!! Below you can find a description of the different roles:
Club Captain
General running of the club, responsible for organising training times and bringing in new people. Must be organised and able to liaise well with other members of the club to ensure everything runs smoothly. Attends ACC and Sport Imperial meetings, and London BJA meetings where necessary.
Treasurer
Responsible for the finances of the club, paying for ground hire and coaching as well as anything else the club needs to purchase over the year. He/she is in charge of putting products on the Union Judo web page for members to buy (e.g mat fees). Also responsible for securing the next year's budget. TRAINING IS PROVIDED to you in the form of training manuals and a treasurer training session by the ACC, so don't worry if you're haven't had experience in money-handling before!
Secretary
Deals with various requests, including those of new members and sending out training times. Makes sure the relevant emails are given to the correct people and any queries are answered. Liaises with other university clubs, potentially to set up a London League for next year and making sure that meetings are attended.
Web Editor
In charge of regularly updating the IC Judo webpage and Facebook page. Good IT skills are necessary!
Competition Secretary
Needs to be very organised. Responsible for everyone's competition entries - getting names, DOBs, license numbers, weight categories for each person and sending out the entries and money to the competition host. Needs to work closely with the Club captain and Team captain, especially for BUCS. Main competitions to organise entry for over the year - Southend International, London Open, Warwick Open, BUCS, USIST and beginner competitions.
Team Captains (Men and Women)
General responsibility for the club at competitions. Needs to be an advanced player who has experience in judo tournament and can lead/coach players during tournaments. Checking times and fares of buses, trains when travelling around the UK or abroad.
Social Sec
In charge of all social events, in particular booking meals out, ACC Barnights and house parties!
Kit and Online Orders Secretary (aka Kit Bitch)
In charge of ordering team hoodies, gi's for those who need them and belts for those who have recently graded. Needs to liaise with the Treasurer in order to put products on the Judo Union web page, and to manage our account with Blitz Sport.
Anyone thinking of entering who hasn't given me a heads up please, could you give me a quick email to let me know what you'll be running for.
If you have any questions about the roles you can ask any person within the current committee (https://www.union.ic.ac.uk/acc/judo/index.php?option=com_content&view=artic…)
If you have any questions about the elections process, please do not hesitate to drop me an email!
Hope to see many of you running! For the Club to succeed we need a good committee, and it is not really as much work as one might think!!
Many thanks,
El Capitan.

Hi all,
For those who want to come to Cambridge for a friendly training session on Saturday the details are the following:
Venue: Cambridge University Sports Centre, Charles Babbage Road, Cambridge, CB3 0FS
It's an hour long walk from the train station so you might want to pick a bus if there are any running. The suggested train below is for the case that you will walk. I will get there by other means, so if you want to go there as a group you need to organise that by yourselves.
The train would be the one leaving from King's Cross at 14.14:
http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/combinedmatrix.aspx?Command=TimeTabl…
I guess there might be pints or something after the training is finnished.
See you lot,
-You so-
Hi guys,
