ICSS Annual General Meeting 2009 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dearest members, The time has come to look back on the past year in perspective and for fresh new faces to stand up and make a difference. The **Imperial College Singapore Society's Annual General Meeting (AGM)** will on the **18th of March 2009 (Wed)** During the AGM, the 26th Executive Committee will step down and a new executive committee will be the elected. Nominations for the 27th Executive Committee are now open! There are eight positions available: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Events Officers 1 & 2, Sports Officer and Liaison Officer. If you want to run for any of the eight positions in the committee and make a difference in the Singaporean student community in the UK, please send in your application to **Sophia** at sophia.huang07@imperial.ac.uk with the following information: 1) Name and course of nominee 2) Name of proposer 3) Name of seconder 1 4) Name of seconder 2 5) Post(s) running for 6) Manifesto 7) Digital Photograph of Self The deadline for submission is **8th March 2009.** We encourage all members who have the earnest desire to see the society prosper to step forward and serve. Be the one who will carry the largest and most respected Singaporean student association in the UK forward towards a brighter future. The ICSS External Partnership Scheme ----------------------------------------------------------------- The ICSS External Partnership Scheme was started in 2008 by the 26th Executive Committee. The scheme aims to strengthen the finances and external links of the society, in order to allow the committee to better cater to the members. Through mutual support, we hope to build long-term partnerships and increase stability in the long-run. ICSS-ICAAS Bursary and MOSA Awards ----------------------------------------------------------------- Applications for this year's MOSA and ICAAS Bursary Awards are now open! Both awards are offered by the Imperial College Alumni Association of Singapore and are acts of goodwill to us as students. Take the opportunity to apply for these prestigious awards and be rewarded! For any questions regarding the awards, please visit http://www.icaas.org/ or email Low Yon Jan at yon.low07@imperial.ac.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **ICSS**-**ICAAS BURSARY AWARDS** The purpose of the bursary is: to find & recognize deserving & needy undergraduates who exhibit scholastic excellence, leadership, merit, integrity, and outstanding character; and to provide them with financial support for academic study and fellowship with other students who are committed in making a difference. * Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must be enrolled at Imperial College London. Applicant must be an undergraduate. Applicant must be a Singapore citizen. Applicant must use bursary money for educational and/or scientific purpose. Applicant must not already be holding another scholarship. Applicant must not have previously held an ICAAS bursary. * Other Notes: The Bursary will be by application only. The application should be supported by Imperial College Singapore Society, with the final selection decided by ICAAS. Each bursary award will be in the form of **1,000 sterling pounds in cash.** Please proceed to http://www.icaas.org/ to download and submit the application form to Sophia Huang at sophiahuimei@hotmail.com by March 31, 2009. **ICSS-ICAAS MOST OUTSTANDING STUDENT AWARD** The primary purpose of MOSA is to identify and recognize the Most Outstanding Student who has rendered outstanding services to Imperial College Singapore Society (ICSS), the Singapore community in UK, and the larger student community at Imperial College London. The candidate shows leadership, exhibits merit, displays integrity, and has an outstanding character. * Eligibility: Applicant must be enrolled at Imperial College London. Applicant can be a final-year undergraduate or graduate student. Applicant must be a Singapore citizen. Applicant cannot be currently on the ICSS Exco. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Notes: Each nomination must be proposed and seconded by ICSS members. The shortlisted candidates must be available for interview in Singapore by the ICAAS Award Committee in August. The decision made by the ICAAS Award Committee is final. The award will be presented to the winner at the ICAAS Annual General Meeting in September. London Games Dota Competition 2009 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Calling all DOTA enthusiasts! Stressed out by work, by major event preparations? Need an outlet; need something to vent your anger on, perhaps by grabbing that M-M-M-O-O-O-ONSTER KILLLLLLL in DOTA? Sign up for the **LONDON GAMES DOTA COMPETITION 2009,** which two weeks from now! Its going to a fun, friendly competition, and is open **to anybody and everybody** from noooobs (like me) to pros (like you!). Winners take home bragging rights and GLEAMING LONDON GAMES MEDALS and prize money £_£ while the losers leave with nothing less than a little bruised ego!
