1. Glory at NottinghamWe came, We saw, We Notted
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Last Saturday saw the 60+ brave warriors from Imperial College SingSoc travelling to the University of Nottingham to challenge our counterparts from various universities in the entire UK at the annual Nottingham Games 2008.
It was truly a remarkable event, a day that the weather and the odds were stacked against us, but the fighting spirit and teamwork displayed by the players shone through despite being underdogs in almost every contest.
We bagged a respectable loot, 1 Gold (Poker), 2 Silvers (Floorball and Adventure Games) and 3 Bronzes (Chess, Snooker, Floorball) but unfortunately, that was not enough to clinch the Overall Winner's Trophy.
- Poker gold: Reuben Ng
- Floorball silver: Dexuan, Jauhari, Kai Long, Juan Boon, Chee Han, Song Xuan, Yoke Pean, David
- Adventure Games silver: Teo Di Kai, Ng Wei Rong, Charles Lim, Ng Huey Yuen, Liew Wei Liang, Sok Zhi Wei
- Floorball bronze: Chen Zhongjie, Amrik, Choong Xun Yu, Edwin Tan, Joan Choo, Jun Kai, Weizhao, Ng Hui Jin
- Snooker bronze: Victor Loi
- Chess bronze: Guo Yi Pei
We would like to thank all supporters who travelled with us, all well-wishers of TeamICSS and most importantly, each player who gave it their all out there and did us proud. We could not have done it without you guys.
The next goal for TeamICSS will be the London Games that will be happening early next year, so get ready, because the battle has just begun.
Thank you.
Cheers,
David
Sports4Life -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to congratulate all our dearest athletes for their efforts, grit and determination throughout the past few weeks that culminated on that fated day.
Undoubtedly, the most important individuals, the ones who made this all possible were the sports IC’s. A big thank you goes out to them, who selflessly dedicated their precious time and effort to rally their respective sports. It is through these men and women that we see sports in ICSS fulfilling its true meaning of bringing people together.
Last but certainly not least, we owe our Sports Officer, Mr. David Kwek many thanks for making this trip a success. David was the man who orchestrated the entire contingent and the 26th is proud to have him on board with us.
May sports continue to blossom in our community =)
Next, the LONDON GAMES!

The 26th Executive Committee would like to thank you for the kind support you have shown to the society. It has been a splendid time and we would like to update each of you about what has happened and what will happen later on in the year.
Come down to listen about breakdown of all the events thus far, plus the unveiling of new, more exciting events to come! We will be touching upon various topics that will be of interest to each and every member of the Singapore Society. Through this, we hope that everyone will be able to obtain a better understanding of the society and what is to come.
Among the issues that will be discussed:
• Our past events
• Future Events
• Chinese New Year Dinner, London Games, Major Event, etc.
• The brand new website/ Esplanade/ publicity system
• Finance report & budgeting for 2008-2009
• Official unveiling of Major Event’s general theme and story!
The Imperial College Singapore Society’s Ordinary General Meeting for the academic year of 2008 – 2009 will be held with details as above. Remember, your feedback is always welcome. We want to hear from YOU! Do your part to make this home away from home a better place for all.
We hope to see you there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: The 26th Executive will be proposing an amendment to the ICSS Constitution at the OGM.
The proposed amendment will affect Retrospect. For those of you who do not know what Retrospect is, it is a ‘yearbook’ which documents the many memories and individuals which make up ICSS over the course of a few years.
What we hope to achieve is to provide a systematic plan for Retrospect for the coming years. It is something we believe that is worth preserving in the future of our society.
So come on down to the OGM to find out more about the details of this proposed amendment. More importantly, let your voice be heard!
On behalf of the 26th Executive Committee,
Low Yon Jan
President – Imperial College Singapore Society |
