2. Imperial Malaysian Night 2010

Dear all,

That time of the year is here once again!
Imperial College Union Malaysian Society presents:
Malaysian Night 2010: Born to be Vile

At its heart this is a human story about love and hate, about revenge, about Malaysian culture, and about how life is all about different points of view.

Meet Bruce Weng, Malaysia's biggest timber tycoon. He's rich, he's handsome, he's TIME Magazine's Man of the Year (and also FHM's Sexiest Man of 2010). Then one night his house is blown up and his life comes crashing down. He's convinced this is the work of his former business partners: Donald Tiram, Malaysia's biggest oyster sauce manufacturer, Datin Hillary Kelentong, and Bill Backgates, CEO of the MicroHard Corporation. But who's the good guy in this story? Throw in an obsessive police detective, some bumbling sidekicks, and the stage is set for an epic story of good and evil.

Are people born evil? Or do they grow evil? Come find out in BORN TO BE VILE.

The event details are as follows:
Date: 26th & 27th February 2010
Day: Friday & Saturday
Time: 7:00pm - 10:30pm
Venue: Great Hall, Imperial College London, South Kensington
Ticket Price: £10 (traditional Malaysian kuih served after the show)

3. Joy Luck Club

Dear all,

UCL Singapore Society is proud to present to you our major event of 2010, a drama production entitled “Joy Luck Club”.

Based on the movie script by Amy Tan and Roland Bass, Joy Luck Club weaves together tales that span continents and decades, from wartime atrocities to cheating husbands and piano recitals. It's a whirlwind of characters that will leave you feeling elated, worn out, excited and sympathetic - all before the mahjong party is over.  Join us on an adventure that takes you through the lives of the mothers in early 20th century China, and their daughters in post-war America, and appreciate the cultural interplays when east meets west.

Although it is the first year that UCL Singapore Society is having a stage production, it promises to be a new experience for all. Be prepared to interact with the characters on stage, laugh with them and cry with them. It is an event not to be missed.
