It's been such a long time, hasn't it? I hope that everyone's exams have been going well. For those who still have papers remaining, all the best!

So as expected, we have tons of updates for you all, due to our long absence from the real world. And here they are:
1. Check out the Point Hope Book Prize, looks like a nifty offer. And specially for ICSS too. How nice.
2. Our Pre-Departure Talk details are out
3. Logo Design Voting opens this Saturday
4. SFP was awesome, thanks for coming
5. There's a special Medical School event coming up
6. Summer is upon us! Yes, it is. The sun is unreliable these days. So, check out your storage options and the classifieds page!
7. Our usual career stuff is up too
8. And the UKSSC is looking for Singapore Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic alumni to share their UK experience

Hope that wasn't too much of an information overload. But just hang in there, the end is in sight!

Because, last but not least, we have the hottest item on this KnT! Not the Toast, but the Dialogue Session with DPM Teo Chee Hean.

The recent spate of blogger controversies, including one which involved DPM Teo himself, renders this dialogue session ever more urgent and relevant. Social media has the potential to create greater social cohesion, or to aggravate social disharmony. It gives the people greater voice, but will they use it wisely? In Singapore's case, we are the generation that determines the norms of online social behaviour. These norms will shape our society, for better or for worse.

Whether you are a genuinely concerned citizen, or the typical kaypoh Singaporean, this dialogue is really a chance to hear it all first hand from none other than DPM Teo, the man of the moment. DPM Teo has previously engaged many different audiences on the implications of social media on society. (Examples include the annual Dialogue for the Community Engagement Programme; and Singaporeans in Conversation 2011 "Your Next Move: Youth Politics and the Future" dialogue)

At the same time, this dialogue is also a chance for us to express our opinions on the issues at hand and our suggestions as to how they could be handled. For although DPM Teo has experience in government and policymaking, we may have better perception of the ground and upcoming trends, since we all practically live on Facebook.

So yeah, sorry for saying the end was in sight. Seems like I can see a pretty long way. By the way, the DPM Dialogue Session comes with dinner. And dinner is always good. (: Hope to see you there!

Your ever-hungry secretary,
Gabriel
