Updates

1. Happily ever after... Final Major Event update

Dearest brothers and sisters,

Doesn't everyone love happy endings? Yet, despite the fact that Umber and Cindy have found their sole-mate in one another, it is with a tinge of regret that I must announce the close of that chapter of the story.

Indeed, as the lights dimmed in the Great Hall last Saturday evening, the end of Solemates signified a climatic finish to the months of preparation and sacrifice put in by the Cast and Crew. The positive reviews and comments from many members of the audience served as confirmation of the team's efforts, and many thanks goes out to the entire production team for putting on an outstanding performance. The word has even reached Felix, the Imperial College students' newspaper, such that an article on Solemates will be published in this week's edition! Spread the word, and remember to grab your copy of Felix tomorrow.

With your combined effort, we've managed to sell a GRAND TOTAL OF 525 TICKETS, far exceeding our own expectations! Our gratitude also goes out to all those who supported us along the way, especially the seniors who were present at rehearsals to provide valuable feedback and encouragement, as well as all our friends and fans in attendance on Saturday evening. To one and all, thank you, for making our dream come true.

While it is sad that the chapter of Solemates has come to a close, the story has far from ended! What lives on even after the lights go down are the friendships, and the strong bonds formed between the members of our community here after months of working as one team, for one goal.

But, without Major Event, there would be none of these memories, none of these friendships, and none of these 'happy endings'.

So, to all Solemates Cast and Crew, I invite you to carry on the spirit, and to recreate the experience for our community next year by taking part in Major Event 2013!

In that same vein, I invite all the members of the ICSS to consider running for office positions in the 30th ICSS Executive Committee! Elections are just around the corner, so please submit your manifestos early and grab your friends along to attend the AGM. More details can be found in the following AGM article.

Finally, thank you for reading these weekly updates! Just as Solemates has drawn to a close, so too will this 'column' also see its conclusion. All that remains to be said is that the past few months have been an extremely rewarding and electrifying experience because of you, and it is with high hopes that we look forward to Major Event 2013!

See you all at AGM next week!

Yours truly,
Joshua

THE END

4. KCLMSS Musical Production 2012: "Uniform: A Fable of Distinctions" (8/9 March 2012)

From the people who brought you Merdeka: The Rock Musical, Beauty World, Love Song For No One and In Pursuit, this year, King’s College London Malaysian & Singaporean Society 2011/12 Proudly Presents...

Uniform: A Fable of Distinctions

Synopsis:
This witty musical comedy examines relationships, ideals, and the search for independence through the lens of class separation.

On the brink of adulthood, two best friends anticipate their coming of age. Lay Kim, a typical Hokkien Chinese girl, has set aside her moving-away plans to take care of her parents' failing food stall. Liz, the English-educated daughter of a well-to-do restaurant chain owner, has decided that she wants individuality apart from her family and peers.

Along with their respective brothers providing humorous perspective, the girls reflect on their formative years to find answers to their problems. Lay Kim begins sifting through past conflicts that affect her sibling and her friendships, while Liz desperately looks for ways to achieve her apparently superfluous goal. As they go along their individual journeys, the girls begin to question the strength of their friendship against the strength of their own personal desires.
