Updates

Hi everyone!

On Wednesday, our event "Take a Break, Have a Kit-Kat" was successfully held at Hyde Park - a great thank you to all who came down to support that day! Hope you all had fun playing games and giving yourselves a break from the seemingly endless mugging and revising.

A couple of things to take note in this week's issue of Kaya and Toast:

Firstly, this is a gentle reminder that Team Sojourn sign-ups close tomorrow night, 27th April at 2359 hrs, so if you haven't done so already, do sign up
here now! You should also indicate your availability for the Meet and Greet sessions in the sign-up sheet. Attached here is a handy guide to the various roles you can take up to be part of Team Sojourn; do look through it carefully!

Next, it is also time to select our academic representatives - each course will have to elect one representative who will be in charge of inducting the freshers into school life next year, as well as organise department outings. Do elect your representative by 10th May so as to allow us ample time to disseminate the information to the freshers. An Exco member will be getting in touch with the people from each course to collate the information.

In the Classifieds section, there is one new advertisement on housing. There are also a few career opportunities available, do look through them if you are interested!

In the meantime, study hard and all the best to those with upcoming exams!

Your faithful secretary,
Siming

1. Take a Break, Have a Kit-Kat: Thank You!

On Wednesday, 24th April, the event "Take a Break, Have a Kit-Kat" held at Hyde Park was successfully concluded. The games played included frisbee, touch rugby, Captain's ball, soccer and saboteur. A finale game of Virus was also played and it was won by Arnold Ng. Thankfully, we were graced with good weather and sunshine for the duration of the games, though we apologise from the slight problem in the venue. A big thank you to all who came down on Wednesday and we hope you all had fun taking a break from your revision!

2. Team Sojourn Sign-ups + Meet and Greet

Enjoyed the time you spent at Sojourn last year? Made lasting friendships out of the people you met in your OG? This is the chance for you to help the next batch of freshers experience a memorable Sojourn and aid them along their new life in London!

This year, we are adopting a slightly different structure to Team Sojourn - all interested parties will be appointed an OGL and also take up a secondary role in a sub-committee e.g. Ninjas/Design/Media/Games. It is also possible for those who do not wish to commit to the role of an OGL but who are still interested in helping out for Sojourn to just take on a role in a sub-committee.

Click
here to download the handy guide we have prepared for you. Do have a good look through the guide as it contains essential information that you need to know. Included in the guide are the roles and responsibilities of the different sub-committees, as well as the important dates you should take note of if you wish to be part of Team Sojourn.

Following which, the 31st Exco would like to have a casual interview with you to find out more about you and the roles that you are interested in. The Meet and Greet sessions will be held on 1st May (Wednesday) and 4th May (Saturday) at SAF rooms G62 and G63. You need to come if you want to be part of Team Sojourn! Select your available time slots on the sign-up link (we will try our best to give you a slot that is most convenient for you).

After looking through the guide and deciding what role you wish to take up, sign up
hereSign-ups close tomorrow night, 2359 hrs on 27th April - so don't hesitate and sign up now!

3. Academic Representatives

Know the weightage of each piece of coursework? Secretly memorised questions from each test to compile a ten year series? Here is a chance for you to help your juniors! As an academic representative, you can contribute by passing down all the information the juniors need to know, as well as maintain the cohesiveness of your department by organising regular department outings.

Here, in brief, are the roles and responsibilities:

  • Get to know freshers and introduce your course at the Pre-Departure talk on 13th July
  • Be the link between the different batches in the course
  • Channel advice and resources from seniors to juniors
  • Have fun and maintain cohesiveness of your department by organising outings

Each course will have to elect one representative by 10th May, so as to allow ample time for the information to be disseminated to the freshers. An Exco member will be getting in touch with the people from each course to collate the information.
