Updates

Hi everyone!

HAVE YOU BOUGHT YOUR TICKETS?

Major Event 2015: Brothers is happening in less than a week's time! We've had our last full dress rehearsal last Sunday, and having gone through the script and plot countless of times, I am still very awed by the performances put up by all the performers - be it the dances, the songs, the acting and the props. It has been a long but definitely meaningful and enjoyable journey for so many of us (since October last year!) and I'm sure this show is one not to be missed, and would worth every single ounce of your time! Come on down to the Great Hall at Imperial College this Saturday, 28 Feb and join us on this amazing evening culminating the effort put together by more than 100 passionate and dedicated individuals :)

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) follows about 2 weeks after Major Event on 18 March. I would strongly encourage all members to attend this meeting. During AGM, the incumbent committee will be sharing and reviewing the events and activities planned for you in the past year, as well as presenting the financial statement to you. As a stakeholder, you have the right to know how the society has been managed as well as to exercise your choice in deciding the incoming committee for the next academic year. To make an informed decision, it is imperative for you to be present and hear what each candidate has to offer for the society. Hope to see you there!

On another note, if you feel like you haven't been exercising much recently, and want to get into the competitive spirit, check out more details of the annual Who Boleh competition between us and Imperial's Malaysian and Thailand society below! There are exciting prizes to be won too!

We have also concluded our annual Chinese New Year dinner at New World Chinese Restaurant last Monday. Check out the photos taken on that heartwarming evening in the album of our Facebook page HERE! Don't forget to like them and tag your friends too!

Lastly, the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU) will be organising a charity run for Singapore's Community Chest at Hyde Park on 28 March, and everyone is welcomed to participate! More details will be released at a later date. However, you might want to save this date before making holiday plans during the Easter break, and do your part for the less fortunate back home.

Have a great week ahead and hope to see you this Saturday evening!

Your faithful secretary,
Weihao Lim

2. Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2015

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) as well as the 33rd Executive Committee elections will take place soon!

The Annual General Meeting is always an exciting event on the ICSS calendar, where the incumbent Executive Committee will review with the members what the Society has achieved thus far and also go through our financial statements.

The election of the 33rd Executive Committee will also take place on that day, where members will have a say in electing new leaders for the Society. With changes in Union Election Guidelines, we will be adopting a new system of elections this year. It is an exciting and efficient change, so we hope to have as many of you guys down for it!

I will be sending out an email to all members regarding the procedure for nominations as well as voting in due time.

I would like to encourage all member to think about taking up a position as an Executive Commitee in ICSS. Other than enriching your own experience, you are able to do so for your fellow Singaporeans around you. As much as we create a home away from home, we need fresh ideas and innovations too. Please do not hesitate to speak to an existing Exco member regarding their particular jobscope!

The details are as follows:

Date: 18 March, Wednesday
Time: 1 - 8pm
Venue:
Electrical and Electronic Engineering Building, LT408

Do block out this date in your calendar and join us on this day! Lunch and dinner will be provided too!

With love,
Clive

4. Chinese New Year Dinner

Happy Chinese New Year everybody!

The Year of The Goat/Ram/Sheep has arrived and is in full swing! Just last Monday, over 100 members of the ICSS family got together to celebrate the coming of the Chinese New Year with a very special Reunion Dinner at New World Restaurant. Everyone took part in the customary Lo Hei and had a chance to showcase their singing talents at the karaoke! A few lucky people even walked away with gift vouchers from the lucky draw!

We would like to once again extend our thanks to Mr Zach Tan of Infocomm Investments for very kindly sponsoring the Yusheng and subsidising the dinner alongside ICSS.

Managing more than S$200 million, Infocomm Investments builds and invests in startup companies in Singapore and globally. They accelerate the development of these young companies in their formative phase, and invest further as they move towards growth and expansion. Partnering leading startup accelerators globally, they scale up accelerator programmes in Singapore to build a strong pipeline of high quality startups ready to gun for global scale. Their main interests lie in: Technology, Software, Internet and everything in between. Infocomm Investments Pte Ltd is a wholly owned venture capital arm of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.

We hope that the dinner was an enjoyable one for all; here's wishing everyone the best in the upcoming year! 新年行大运!
