It's not too expensive, the book is cool and filled with great pictures, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it :D So do get one!

In other news, the Hyde Park picnic was successfully concluded last week and we'd like to thank everyone for your support (: Hope you all had fun playing sports and games and eating a lot! Moving ahead, we are looking forward to a wide array of mouth-watering dishes during the Hall Fiesta period, so do note down the contact details of the I/Cs for your respective halls and be rewarded with good food! There are also some updates for the Portsmouth shopping trip, Nottingham Winter Games, and Major Event, so do read on carefully (: Lastly, there's a message from UKSSC with regards to their Annual General Meeting (AGM) - do show your support!

And as a friendly reminder, if you have not yet purchased ICSS membership, please support us in purchasing

2. Hyde Park Picnic

Last Saturday, 12th Nov, more than a hundred ICSS members gathered at Hyde Park to engage in a day of fun, food, sports and games! We were blessed with good weather and good company, making for a wonderful Saturday morning.

The event ended with a bang through an eating competition, where participants formed groups of 8 to compete for the title of the fastest consumers. Congratulations to the winning team, who were handsomely rewarded with 6 pints of Ben and Jerry's!

Once again, a big thank you to all who came down for the picnic, and we hope to see you again!

6. Major Event 2014

This past week, 'auditions' were held on Tuesday and Thursday, with a total of 29 people coming down and trying their best to read lines and sing. It was a great pleasure to see so many coming down, and also really touching to see many of you put great effort into this. I would like to take this chance to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who came down. Also not forgetting those who have signed up for Major Event's other teams! Thank you all!

With the conclusion of our 'auditions', the next thing up for all is our Major Event Mix & Mingle! It will be held on the
28th of October (next Monday!), at night. On top of getting to see who will be in your teams, you will also get to learn more about Major Event, and what it is about this year. You will be contacted shortly with more details, so do keep that day free!

That's all for now. Have a great week ahead!

Your friendly Major Event Officer,
Chuan Khim

7. UKSSC Annual General Meeting

The United Kingdom-Singapore Students' Council (UKSSC) will be having their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 16 Nov 2013.

Formed in August 1998, the United Kingdom-Singapore Students’ Council (UKSSC) is an independent, student-led organisation that aims to create a bona fide Singapore student community across the United Kingdom. The UKSSC works closely with the various societies, government organisations and private agencies to achieve this.

The AGM is an opportunity for the UKSSC Exco to account and report to the Partner Society Leaders on their work over the year. It is also where the elections for the next committee take place. All Singaporeans studying in UK universities are welcomed to run. Both current students and freshers are most welcome to run for the elections. Over the last few years, freshers have held key positions including Vice President, Treasurer and Regional Director. Everyone who is keen to contribute to supporting and strengthening the Singaporean student community in the UK is highly encouraged to run for the UKSSC.
