Offering free walking tours in London, ICSS OGL Tours is dedicated to providing all Freshers, no matter of budget, with the best tour available. It is our goal to help ICSS Freshers fully discover the beauty and rich history of as many sights in central London as possible.

Tours would be conducted by our very own Sojourn OGLs this coming Saturday, 8th Oct, in your own OGs! We would be covering major attractions in central London, such as the London Eye, Westminster Abbey and Chinatown. Hear our ‘local’ expert guides* share with you their personal stories and insights during this riveting walkabout!

Assembly points for the respective OGs are as below. Do contact your respective tour guides for more details about the itinerary:

Jupiter: Hyde Park Corner Station, 1015 h
Osiris: Green Park Station, 1000 h
Siren: Waitrose near Gloucester Road Station, 1000 h

2. Hyde Park Picnic (15 Oct 2011)

The sun’s slowly going to sleep, but before he does that, we’re going to (try) enjoy his warm, loving embrace one last time before the looooong winter.

It’s the annual ICSS Hyde Park Picnic! Held next Saturday, 15th October, at (obviously) Hyde Park, from 1000 h onwards, we’re going to have a lovely spread courtesy of the hard work of your seniors and Exco members (as usual). We’ll be meeting at the northern side of the Royal Albert Memorial, the big, golden, obiang ttm statue. The picnic itself will be near the horse statue in Hyde Park itself, so if you don’t see us at the Memorial it means we’re inside already and YOU’RE LATE.

We’ll be having the following activities at the picnic:

Games

  • Soccer
  • Frisbee
  • Touch Rugby
  • Captain Ball

Newcomers and experts are all welcome for these games! If you’d like to participate in any one of these sports, you can form your own teams, or sign up with Yuxiang by dropping him an email at sportsofficer@ic-singsoc.net.

Alternatively, you can come dressed for sports on the day itself and just join in the fun!

Wackiest Photo Competition

There’s plenty of things to see and do in Hyde Park, so we’re holding the Wackiest Photo Competition, and the theme is Forever Love. Simply take the wackiest photo you can think of, with anything in Hyde Park: it can be the statues, the benches, even the geese in the pond! After that, send it to eventsofficer1@ic-singsoc.net by Sunday, 16th October with a short description of how it fits with the theme, and await judging by none other than Fong himself.

Remember, the funnier the photo, and the funnier the description, the more likely you are to win some very, very, VERY attractive prizes!

See you at Hyde Park! :)

3. ICSS Fiesta 2011

Hi everybody!

Hope that everyone has already settled down comfortably in their halls or their own private residences by now! Since you people have already settled down, now is the time to start exploring your kitchen and your new cooking recipes that you are desperately asking your mama to send you these few days. Now is also the time for you to level up your culinary skills.

Ladies and gentlemen, introducing to you our casual event - FIESTA!!!

In the previous year, we have observed a cooking culture heavily embedded in the Singaporean Freshers 2010-2011 (i.e our batch), and we would definitely love to pass on this special homely culture to our next batch of freshers. Fiesta is an event for ex-hall seniors to come together to cook and eat with our cutesy juniors currently living in the halls.

Autumn is settling in, so what’s better than staying in the warmth of the kitchens, with seniors and freshers cuddling together, eating and talking crap? Freshers, if you are still in the process of polishing up your art of cooking, fret not! Please do not feel inferior because this will be your chance to learn the ropes from your seniors.

Of course, the main highlight of Fiesta is a mini competition among halls. And, no prize no competition. You can stand to win the following prizes -

  • The best caption for your dish
  • The most Singaporean dish
  • The dish with the best presentation

Here’s what you will have to do –

1. The cookout should involve both freshers and at least 1 senior of the same hall.

2. You may submit 3 – 5 dishes for the competition. Come up with a creative caption for each dish submitted.

3. Take 01 x photo in the hall kitchen with the current hall residents and the seniors who were from the hall and also 01 x close-up photo of each dish prepared.

4. Submit the photos to Qin Zheng at eventsofficer2@ic-singsoc.net by 2359 h on 2 Nov 2011. Name the respective close-up photos using the captions that you have come up with.

5. No taking away from Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, or any form of eating outlets and supermarkets.

6. Any questions please direct it to eventsofficer2@ic-singsoc.net.

Good luck with Fiesta and do have an exciting year of cooking ahead!
