1. ICSS Chinese New Year dinner (22 Jan 2012)

The ang moh New Year is over. No lion dances, visits from otherworldly spirits, ang paos, or pineapple tarts.

How lacklustre.

But Chinese New Year's coming up! And... that means it's time for the annual ICSS Chinese New Year dinner! 

This year, it's going to be held at Top of the Town, in Chinatown! Yes, we've specially secured the highest point in Chinatown justtttt for your happiness and prosperity.

The rest of the details are as follows:

Date: 22 Jan, 2012 (Sun)
Time: 1800 - 2100 h
Cost: £16 for ICSS members, £20 for non-members

The dinner will consist of 9 courses, with Chinese tea. Other drinks are not included, and will have to be purchased separately, before the dinner itself.   Please refer to the price list below for the full details of the drinks prices.

To facilitate our planning, priority will be given to people who sign up in groups of ten, to form a table. We have 17 tables available, all on a first-come-first-served basis, so hurry and book fast!

If you don't have a group of ten, fear not, just let us know how many people you're booking for, or if you're signing up for yourself, and we'll save you a seat. Please note that groups of less than ten may be split up, depending on when you sign up, so do act fast!

Please have your representative email Shun Ying (secretary@ic-singsoc.net) and Joel (treasurer@ic-singsoc.net) with the names of the people in your table, drinks, and any dietary requirements. Abalone and shark's fin soup are not considered dietary requirements, unless people call you 皇上 on a daily basis.

Instructions for payment will be given out at a later date, so keep an eye out for that.

Drinks price list:

• Tiger beer: £25 / carton
• Remy Martin: £32 / bottle
• Jack Daniel: £28 / bottle
• Coke: £12 / carton
• Diet coke: £12 / carton
• 7Up: £12 / carton
• Tango: £12 / carton
• Mineral water: £12 / carton
• House red/white wine: £8 / bottle

Remember, each carton consists of 24 cans, so don't get one carton for each person.

2. CNY Carnival 2012

Hello everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your long-awaited winter holidays, whether back home in sunny Singapore, or here in the UK! As you might already have heard, HCOSG(UK), RU, VinE and DHSYA(UK) are jointly organising the CNY Carnival 2012 @ UCL, to provide you with an excellent opportunity to meet up with your friends from all over the UK, and to immerse yourself in the festive CNY atmosphere even when you're 7000 miles away from home! The event is going to be bigger and better this year, as it will stretch across both the North and South Cloisters at UCL. As part of this event, we would like to invite you to set up stalls selling anything from food and drinks to souvenirs and accessories, or even game stalls to add to the carnival cheer. You will find attached a sign-up form. The details of the event are as follows:

Date: 21 Jan, 2012 (Sat)
Venue: University College London, North and South Cloisters
Time: 1100 – 1400 hrs (tentative)

Registration Fee: £18 (by 7th January 2012)
