Hey everyone!

I hope that we have had an exciting week of project deadlines and January tests!

We will be having our Chinese New Year Dinner on 25 Jan, 1900-2200 at China Boulevard on the River! It costs £19 and £25 for members and non-members respectively. Simply form a group of 10 and have the table I/C sign up HERE by 18 Jan!

It's just one more month to Major Event 2017 - GETAI! Early bird tickets will go live on 19 Jan, Thursday at 2300 on the Union Website for £9! The show itself is on 18 Feb, 1900-2230 at the Great Hall, and regular tickets are priced at £10 so do get them early!

ICSS will be participating in the International Food Fair, organised by the Overseas Societies Committee on 30 Jan 2017! If you wish to help prepare our local dishes and showcase Singapore's culinary culture, do sign up HERE!

To get into the festivities, we are organising a mahjong session! It will be held on 28 Jan, Saturday from 1000-1700 at Skempton 060A/B/C, so do sign up HERE! There will also be other games so do come down too even if you don't play mahjong!

Lastly, we are co-organising a series of events with the Imperial College Alumni Association of Singapore (ICAAS) to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of ICSS and the 40th Anniversary of ICAAS! Do provide feedback HERE for any events/activities which might interest you!

Here's the moment we've all been waiting for since it became 2017 - signups for the ICSS Chinese New Year dinner are now open! Details are as follows:

Date: 25 Jan 2017
Time: 7pm - 10pm
Venue: China Boulevard on the River (1 The Boulevard, London SW18 1DE)
Price: £19 (members), £25 (non-members)


The menu is as follows:

Chicken and Sweet Corn Soup
Steamed Sea Bass
Stir Fried King Prawns with Asparagus
Roast Duck
Stir-fried Pakchoi with Garlic
Poached Chicken in Superior Broth
Mapo Tofu
Mixed Seafood on Crispy Noodle

While China Boulevard is a non-halal establishment, all food does not contain pork or lard. However, do let us know of any dietary requirements!

To register, simply form a group of 10, appoint someone as the table IC, who will then fill in the signup sheet HERE and make payment! If you do not have a group of 10, don't worry and we'll help you form your tables!

2. Major Event 2017 Ticket Sales

 

HELLO EVERYONE!!!  

Just ONE MORE MONTH and Major Event 2017 - GETAI is upon us! Early Bird Tickets will go live on 19 Jan, Thursday at 2300 on the Union Website. We have 200 early bird tickets at £9 each!!

Our performers and crew are working hard as they prepare for the big night so do come down and support us! Also do invite your friends from Imperial and all around the UK to come down for this spectacular show! Details of the show are as follows:

To give you a taste of the show here is our little synopsis:

An encounter between a rising star, Eunice, and an aspiring songwriter, Jesse, at a fateful Getai performance develops into something more. Eunice takes an interest in Jesse’s talent and offers him a job writing songs for her. Their relationship soon develops. However, when a crime lord threatens to destroy Eunice's livelihood, she'll do whatever it takes to survive, even if it means tearing her relationship with Jesse apart. Will Eunice and Jesse find their happy ending?

3. International Food Fair

 

Hi guys!

ICSS is participating in an international food fair organized by the Overseas Societies Committee on 30 Jan 2017, and we are still looking for volunteers to help in preparing curry puffs, mua chee and bandung (or any other dishes you would like to prepare)!

4. Mahjong Session

 

Hello guys!

Feeling abit lost on what to do for CNY Day 1? Are your hands feeling abit itchy? Fret not! We will be organising a mahjong session for all you mahjong lovers (doesn't matter if you're pro or just a first-timer). Everybody is welcomed! Details are as follows:
