Hello!

Easter break is over and we're jumping straight into... exam season! ☹️ Hopefully, everyone feels rested, recharged and ready to tackle summer term. :')

On that note, we would like to thank those who came down for Kit Kat last week! The weather was great and there was a variety of food for everyone (did we mention there was teh peng?!). If you missed it, keep a lookout for Hyde Park Picnic in the next academic year!

In case you missed it, signups for SFP performances and Team Sojourn are still open! Check out the post below for signup links!

Calling for scriptwriters and dance/chorale directors for Major Event 2020! Here's your chance to shape SingSoc's biggest event (no I'm not going to make a pun on major event) next year! Read on for more details on how to get involved. 😁

Travelled in Easter and had loads of fun? Share the joy by uploading your travel itineraries on the ICSS Travel Drive so that others can use it as reference when planning their trips to the same cities! 🌍

Easter break may have just ended, but the 37th is already looking way ahead to winter break by starting to plan for Ski Trip 2019. Our VP is working hard to secure the best deals for an unforgettable experience so look out for more information in upcoming issues. In the meantime, chope the dates in your calendar first!

Spring is the time of the year when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade. Step out into the sun and soak in the warmth!

3. Major Event 2020: Call for Script/Creative Team

Hi guys!

Easter break has ended and YOU know what THAT means! It's time for another episode of
(no not me screwing up exams) yes that's right! Preparing for another awesome Major Event

So why not take a break from typing out code and doing those calculations to write up an idea for your vision of ME 2020? Your ideas, your story, your choice of genre – all we
ask is that you try to integrate some aspects of Singaporean culture for us to showcase to the Imperial community and that you give some scope for our talented singers, dancers and musicians to shine as well!

Not interested in doing up a script? We have other exciting opportunities for you to shine as well! Consider signing up to be part of the creative team. We are looking for Dance and Chorale Directors to fill up the creative team! Please send an email to majorevent@ic-singsoc.net if you are interested! Follow in your seniors' footsteps who have been there for us and be there for your juniors next year!

Here are some dates for you to take note of:
17 May 2019 (Friday) – Deadline for the preliminary draft. At this point, we would like to see a plot outline and one full scene so that we can get an idea of your scriptwriting style. Anything longer is very welcome! From there, the creative team will work with you to help give shape to your initial ideas.

14 June 2019 (Friday) – Final deadline for the finished scripts. Mark it on your calendars now in case you forget!

Please email your submissions to majorevent@ic-singsoc.net. If you have any questions, do email me at that address as well!

Hope to see you participating in ME 2020!

Where are my bananas? 🍌

4. ICSS Travel Drive

Hey friends,
We hope that the Easter break has been a fruitful time of rest and recovery for you. If you have travelled during the break and really enjoyed the places that you have been, do consider sharing your itineraries on the ICSS Travel Drive!

The Travel Drive is basically a Google Drive folder where you can access travel itineraries shared by other ICSS members and also contribute your own ones as well. It may prove useful in planning your future travels and for sharing your travel recommendations as well, so do give it a look!

To access the travel guide, use this link: http://bit.ly/ICSSTravelDrive

5. Ski Trip

Planning for the next Ski Trip this December is well underway! We are on the verge of giving all you skiing/snowboarding fans out there some good news, but do be patient and watch for more information in the next few issues of the Kaya & Toast Times!

In the meantime, do mark down 14th to 21st December in your calendars. As usual, we will be setting off for the slopes in the first week of the winter break! But do note that these dates are very probable but still to be confirmed!

Cheers from your absolute fav VP,
Xian Fong
