P.S. Today is Hari Raya Haji! Hari Raya Haji is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened by sending his angel Jibra'il and informing him that his sacrifice had already been accepted.

We successfully concluded UKBound 2016 on the 3rd of September, crowning Mr Warwick - Kingsley as UKBound King and our very own Ms Imperial - Daphne as UKBound Queen! Congratulations also to our other representative Mr Imperial - Mark who managed to win Mr Hot Bod! They've put in weeks of effort and commitment, and we hope everyone enjoyed the show!

We would like to thank a group of people without which our event would not have been successful - these ICSS members put in time and effort throughout these past few weeks, or helping out on the day itself. We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to: Chloe, Ben Yong and Rachel Ee, Wei Yan, Wan Qing, Aaheli, Bing Jie, Nicholas Sim, Zeguang, Rion and Collin.

A big thank you also goes out to all those who came down on 3rd September, or showed your support in one way or another! Enjoy the rest of summer and see you all back in London!(:

Your exhausted but happy EOs,

2. Hall & OG Walkabout

Hi everyone,

The start of term is right around the corner and with that comes a new batch of freshers moving into halls!

On 1 Oct at 1300-1600 hrs there will be the Hall Walkabout to help introduce the freshers to the surroundings of their halls and the way to school.

Our Meeting Point would be outside the respective undergraduate halls so freshers do keep a look out for your seniors!

Key features of the walkabout include:
  • Duvet collection
  • Introduction of nearest amenities
  • Opportunity to purchase daily necessities
We’re calling out to all to join us at the Hall walkabout!

For Freshers please do indicate your attendance HERE so that we can plan your walkabout for your halls.

For Seniors if you’re free on 1 Oct and don’t mind coming down to your old hall to help out do let us know by filling out the form HERE too!

In addition to this, your respective OGHs will be organising their own OG walkabouts on 8 Oct! Do keep that date free as well and liaise with your OGHs!

Junrui

4. Ski Trip

Hi everyone!

It’s only 3 more months (approximately) to the SKI TRIP!!! Is everyone ready to blaze down the slopes!

This year we will be going to Les Deux Alpes in France from 16-23 Dec!

The accommodation we will be staying at is a bit different from previous years'  hostel concepts, but rather it will be in apartment blocks which can house 4-8 people per apartment. Also, for those who have never skied/snowboarded before, instruction will be provided for beginners so rest assured and do come along! Grab your friends along too!

Price: £579 (+5 for non ICSS members)

Official bookings will open once term starts, so for those still considering or those who can’t wait for the trip do sign up HERE early as signups will be on a first come first served basis with priority to ICSS members. This will also let me contact you more easily. If you have any un-answered questions, do feel free to email Junrui at vicepresident@ic-singsoc.net.

Winter is coming!

Your hurtling Vice-President,
Junrui
