Digest

Hi everyone!

Welcome to issue 20/2020 of The Kaya and Toast Times! Apart from sounding nice, this is also the first issue of the new school year, so grab your books
📚, bag 🎒, and coffee (or tea 🍵) - we have some midnight oil to burn. 🕯

In other news, now that school has started, please consider supporting us by purchasing ICSS membership for the cheap price of £0 (yes you read that right!) As our membership numbers affects the amount of funding we get from the Imperial College Union and other sponsors, we sincerely ask for your support!

For those of you who purchased the
ICSS T-Shirt this year, the shirts will be ready for collection in a few weeks' time. Do look out for a message from Yuyang in the coming few weeks!

All the best for school, and take care!

Your thinks-the-weather-is-too-hot Secretary,
Yuyang

1. Membership Matters

Hey everyone!

We hope that you are looking forward to the new school year as much as we are. As you all may already know, with a new school year comes a repurchase of the ICSS membership. As COVID-19 has disrupted a lot of plans, including our plans for physical events, for some time to come, we have decided to make membership FREE for this academic year. That is right - you get to enjoy all the benefits and perks for a grand total of £0! Do not worry as the 38th ExCo is coming up with exciting alternatives to the events that you all know and love.

Our membership numbers affects the amount of funding we get from the Imperial College Union and other sponsors, so we sincerely ask for your support! To purchase your membership (for free), simply click on this link: https://tinyurl.com/ICSSMembership2021

We hope that you will support future ICSS events. Thank you for reading and take care!

The 38th ExCo

2. Settling In

Hey freshers!

Congratulations on surviving the first day of school! We hope that you are settling in well. The 38th ExCo has created a
WhatsApp chat for your respective halls. As we are unable to hold a hall walkabout this year, your seniors will share some of their #LifeHacks with you via the chat to make your hall life more enjoyable. If you have yet to be added into the chat, please contact Julian at +44 7308 239556 and he will assist you.

In the meantime, we have also come up with a short
Hall Guide for you all, which you can find here. Feel free to read it whenever you are free, and if you need more information, you can also refer to the Sotong Guide, which has a section for every hall.

As an aside, if you are staying in Singapore for the Autumn term and have yet to receive your free GiffGaff SIM card, you can contact Yuyang at +44 7367 899983 (WhatsApp) or +65 90710569 (call/text) and he will pass it to you.

All the best for the academic year ahead, and we hope to see everyone soon!

Your still-repaying-sleep-debt Secretary,
Yuyang

3. ICSS Karanguni

ICSS Karanguni is a Facebook group where you are able to buy and sell used household items. If you are on the lookout for cheap household items, do check out the listings in the group. You may be able to get them for a low price and sometimes even for free! If you have household items that you no longer need, do consider giving them a new lease of life by putting them up on offer in the group. Join the group at this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/icsskaranguni/

4. Autumn Events

Hey everyone!

As mentioned in the last issue of the newsletter, we are preparing exciting events for everyone in the Autumn term! Our first two events,
KILU Talks and the first-ever Online Experiential Exchange, will be held in the coming few months. We will really appreciate it if you could fill up the interest forms here (KILU Talks and Online Experiential Exchange) so that we have a better idea of what you guys want to get out of these events.

If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to message any one of the ExCo members. Thank you and we look forward to your responses!

Your not-excited-for-school Secretary,
Yuyang
