Digest

Hello everyone!

Major Event 2016, the big musical that many of us have been working hard at for the past few months, has finally come to an end last night. I think the show was absolutely stunning, and I hope those of you who came to watch it enjoyed yourself thoroughly. For those of us who have been working tirelessly for the production, I hope you found the effort worth it, and I hope you are proud of yourself for pulling off such a good show (:

With that, it is soon time for the 33rd ExCo to step down and pass on the baton to the upcoming batch, and this is where we encourage all of you to step up and take on the responsibility of making ICSS a home away from home. The Annual General Meeting will take place on 16 Mar 2016 (Wed), 1 pm at Huxley LT 311, and this is where we will elect the 34th ExCo. If you are interested in any of the roles, please find out more by approaching either the 33rd ExCo or our predecessors, to gain insights on what the roles entail.

Finally, we are taking pre-orders for Retrospect 2016, ICSS' triennial yearbook which will be a precious keepsake for the memories you have made over the past three years in ICSS. Pre-ordered books will be priced at £10 (U.P. £15), but limited quantities are available at this price, and collection will be done at SFP 2016 in late May. Do make your orders HERE.

For those who were involved in ME16, have a good rest! And to everyone else, jiayou for the last few weeks of term, and then Easter Break will be here (:

Your touched Secretary,
Ben Chin (:

2. Major Event

My Singapore Girl, Major Event 2016, has finally come to an end :) To everyone who came to watch our show, thank you so much! We hope that you enjoyed our show as much as we did performing for you! It took a year's worth of planning, and months of hard work from an amazing crew of a hundred strong to piece this amazing musical together.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to every single one of our lovelies for this epic journey, one of many late night trainings and weekends sacrificed! Hopefully it has given you an experience that you will never forget even after graduating from Imperial :) I have seen many new and old bonds being formed and strengthened through Major Event and it was a very heartening sight. Peeping through the glass window of the door and watching the performance gave me goosebumps even though its the eighth time i've watched you guys perform and i am so grateful for being a part of this event with you guys. Couldn't have asked for anything more! :)

See you next year for Major Event 2017 ;)

3. Annual General Meeting

Dear all,

I struggle to find a word in the dictionary more amazing than amazing to describe the perfect night yesterday. However, the conclusion of Major Event does not mark the end of the wonderful things the 33rd Exco has planned for you.

It is time for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the 34th Executive Committee Elections.

During the AGM, the 33rd Exco will review the things we have done in our term as well as go through our financial statements. The election of the 34th Executive Committee will take place afterwards.

Here are the details of the AGM and Elections:
Date: 16 March 2016, Wednesday
Time: 1pm - 7pm
Venue: Huxley LT 311
Lunch will be provided.

Additionally, here are some key dates for the elections:
9th Mar: Closing date to buy membership to run for a position in the Exco as well as to vote
12th Mar - 14th Mar: Nomination period
More details on the elections will be released at a later date.

Being in the executive committee is a heavy responsibility. However, it is a sweet burden – to work together with a team aligned with the common goal to make ICSS the warm home it is today. It will be a tough journey, but an amazing learning experience and one that will allow you to contribute back to the Singapore Society in the most direct way possible.

If you are considering to stand for elections, I would strongly encourage you to find out more about the roles you are interested in by approaching either the 33rd ExCo or our predecessors. Through these conversations, it would allow you to gain insight on which role best suits you and whether or not you are able to commit in the long run. Here are the contacts of the 33rd Exco, and the names of our predecessors (who are still studying in Imperial):
