1. Autumn Term Round Up
Dear Friends,
It’s that time of the year again, as the temperature drops below freezing, that we can all finally sit back and relax after a stressful first term of school. As Autumn term draws to a close, we would just like to take the opportunity to say a very big thank you to all our members for all the support over the past term in building up our home away from home.
To round up the events of the term, we started off the academic year with our Fresher welcome events followed by our annual Hyde Park Picnic to welcome everyone back to London. This was followed by our very own Halloween Party where we got together for a night of scary fun! After that, we were off to Nottingham to vie for glory amongst the other Singapore Societies in the UK. Then we had our Ordinary General Meeting to update everyone on our activities, finances and future plans. Then, it was shopping and exploring at Ashford and Canterbury respectively, with 2 musical outings sprinkled in between. And, to cap off the term, we had our annual Christmas Party get-together for a night of feasting and good company! And throughout all this of course, were our major event rehearsals and preparations for next term.
As you can see, our Autumn calendar has been amazingly packed and indeed, the support shown for these events were most heartening, with our trips and musicals oversubscribed and over 75 people turning up for our end-of-term Christmas party.
To give everyone an idea of the events that will be organised in the next term, we have listed the events with their descriptions below.
Spring Trip: The destination poll is still ongoing! Participate in it to get your opinions heard! The standings are shown in the full post below.
Spring Musicals: The poll is now closed with Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera winning by large margins! Chinese New Year Dinner: Do not miss our oldest tradition, our annual Reunion Dinner! This year, it will be held on Chinese New Year Eve (9th February 2013), so do keep a look out for publicity which will be released early next term!
Collaboration Event with ICUMS: A tradition started only last year, previously dubbed the "Who Boleh" series, we are continuing with the collaborative events with the Malaysian society to help us get to know our closest neighbours!
Major Event: Need we say more? Do refer to the publicity piece below and get your tickets early! Also, do keep a lookout for our 30th Anniversary special minor event to be held in conjunction with Major Event this year!
We, the 30th Exco would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our members for your strong show of support of our events. As we head into the Spring term, we hope that the society will progress forward together as we shoot for the sky with our annual highlight Major Event. With your help, we hope to make the year even more exciting in Spring! Once again thank you guys, and to those going on the Ski Trip, see you there! To everyone else, do take care in the cold weather and have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
With love,
30th Executive Committee

2. Major Event 2013 - Homecoming

Hi all!
As the term draws to a close, much work has been done and time has been spent on practicing, rehearsing and making the 2nd of February a little bit more memorable. Do remember all the steps you've learnt, all the songs you've sung and the lines you've memorized over the holidays, but more importantly, remember to enjoy yourself, especially those going on the ICSS Ski Trip.
Come January it will be the final push before Major Event, we will be having combined rehearsals twice a week, with all the ongoing individual practices going on. The load will get heavier, but know that at the end of the day, it will be worth it. It will be worth all the blood, sweat and tears put in. You can look forward to sharing that moment of joy when it is all over with the friends and family who have come down to watch this production that you have become a part of.
I've enclosed a link of the cast and crew which I would like you to go through, and make sure that your name is on it, just in case somewhere, somehow you've slipped through the fingers of the Team Admins. If your name is indeed missing, please let your appropriate TAs know and we'll write you in.

3. Christmas Party

A big thank you to everyone who for the ICSS Christmas Party 2012! Undoubtedly it was your enthusiasm that made it such a big success! Kudos to the Ah Boys below for their impromptu performance and the chorale team on the right for their wonderful carols!

Not to mention, the numerous Iron-Chefs-in-the-making for the tonnes of good food! Our very own curry puff queen was crowned Iron Chef at the party, and guess what, even the strawberries came dressed for the occasion!

Some of us had to prove ourselves in the Human Bingo game,

while others took the Relay with Kisses game pretty seriously.

Finally, in the gift exchange with a twist, some of us got what we wanted,

others...well... will have to make do. At least he's happy. (:

This is probably the first Christmas that many of you are spending away from home but we sincerely hope that everyone of you had enjoyed yourselves celebrating this festive season with your new-found friends in your Home Away from Home.
Do look forward to more exciting ICSS events in store for you all next term!
Warmest Regards,
The 30th Exco
