Hi everyone!
It has been a really long time since the previous issue of Kaya & Toast! Did you miss us? ;) And I hope everyone is doing great so far!
In this week's issue, look out for the details regarding UKBound, Ski Trip and Major Event 2015! The Duvet Order is also available for all members this year. In addition, Warwick Summer Games concluded yesterday and we have done well indeed!
This issue is also the first issue to be received by all freshers who are starting their first academic year in 2014! Welcome to ICSS, short for Imperial College Singapore Society!
Kaya & Toast is a (most of the time) weekly newsletter which the society sends to all members to disseminate important information and events which you may be interested in! These include exciting offers for various activities organised by the society such as Ski Trip and musical outings. Most of the instructions on how to sign up for these events will be included in their respective portions. Hence, it is essential to keep yourself updated with Kaya & Toast!
The newsletter is also one of many platforms for communication between Singaporeans in Imperial, our sponsors and external organisations. As such, advertisements and career information by these parties may be included in the newsletter too.
If you have any queries regarding any of the information and events featured in Kaya & Toast, do not hesitate to contact the EXCO member in charge of the event, or the secretary (me!) at secretary@ic-singsoc.net
Have an awesome week ahead! :)
Your faithful secretary,
Weihao Lim

1. UKBound 2014: Impulse
For almost 2 decades, the Imperial College Singapore Society has held the annual UKBound at Zouk. Come and join us this year on 5th September, 6.45pm! While we celebrate the good old memories in Zouk, lets celebrate something new as well. Lets celebrate the new academic year (not really, huh?) with the Freshers and more importantly... the NEW SEGMENT. This year, we're hosting a GAMESHOW as well as a PAGEANT. So if you wanna find out which college knows how many Zara's there are in Oxford Street or the number of columns at Stonehenge, come on down for a night of fun! The tickets now cost only 23SGD with complimentary access to Zouk afterwards! We know we will see you there because its going to be a BLAST!
To purchase your tickets, kindly approach your OGH. Otherwise, you may reserve your tickets through our Treasurer, Maung Thet, via WhatsApp at +6597129215 or via email at treasurer@ic-singsoc.net

2. Ski Trip

Thinking of what to do this Christmas? Looking forward to another year of skiing? Sign-ups for this year's ski trip has opened! The details for this year's trip are as follows:
Location: UCPA La Plagne Date: 19 Dec 14 - 28 Dec 14 Price: £559 + £5 admin fee for non members
Join us for another round of fun on the slopes, and do feel free to invite your friends to come along! Also, as this year's ski trip spans throughout Christmas, we will be celebrating this festive season during the trip, so be sure not to miss out and join us for a ball of a time.
Sign up now through the link HERE. As places for the ski trip are limited, do try to sign up before 1st Sept to increase your chances of obtaining a spot.
Due to the unfortunate timing of our school term dates, the resorts that are able to accommodate a big group such as us are limited. As such, we will be returning to La Plagne, one of the bigger resorts. La Plagne offers a variety of entertainment options every night and is surrounded by slopes that are suitable for beginners and steeper ones for those looking for a challenge. The experience at La Plagne is not one to be missed!
If there are any queries about the ski trip, do feel free to contact me at vicepresident@ic-singsoc.net.
Regards,
Leon Ooi
Vice-President

5. Warwick Summer Games

We slugged it out, we fought hard, and we had a ball of a time. Yesterday, ICSS participated in the Warwick Summer Games and emerged victorious in various sports and games. Some contestants participated in these games competitively for the first time, while seasoned players returned to claim their titles. After much hard work and many trainings, Team Imperial did us proud and clinched a number of medals:
Floorball: Champion & 1st Runner-up Touch Rugby: 1st Runner-up Monopoly Deal: 2nd Runner-up
For those who have been inspired by the success of these teams, you are still very much welcomed to join the sports interest groups on their Facebook page and drop in for their training sessions.
Thanks to all who played and represented ICSS in this year's Warwick Summer Games 2014, we are proud of every one of you! Keep on training hard and hope you all had fun both preparing for the games as well as competing in them!
From your enthusiastic Sports Officer
